The 5th International Half Marathon, organized by Adana Metropolitan Municipality and included in the Adana Governor's Office 13 January Liberation of Adana celebration program, will be run on Sunday, 8 January 2023. The press conference regarding the competition to be held with the message “First Run of the Second Century” was held at Adana Metropolitan Municipality Council Hall.
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Athletics Federation Adana Provincial Representative Serdal Kadıoğlu, one of Turkey's most important long-distance runners, national athlete Mehmet Yurdadon and Adana Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats attended the meeting.
AN IMPORTANT ORGANIZATION FOR THE CITY
President Zeydan Karalar, who started his speech by emphasizing the importance of the 5 January Independence Day, said, “We celebrate our victory where the genius of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was seen and the people of Adana showed their heroism and valor. In this context, the Adana Kurtuluş Half Marathon has become traditional. Such activities are important both for the development of sports and for the promotion of Adana. Festivals, cultural and artistic activities and sports organizations in Adana contribute to the promotion of the city and lift the city up.
President Zeydan Karalar announced that the organization to be held this year will start with the children's race, and the 10 km, 21 km, obstacle race and public races will be held, and that the award ceremony will also be held on January 8.
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPATION
President Zeydan Karalar stated that the number of participating athletes, which was 2018 in 882, increased to 2500 this year. President Zeydan Karalar, who informed that a total of 180 thousand 389 TL prizes will be distributed to 250 athletes after the race, also mentioned that important aid organizations such as LÖSEV and the Turkish Education Foundation will organize aid campaigns in the organization.
President Zeydan Karalar said, “We are holding these races with the cooperation of the relevant dynamics, especially our Governor's Office. We act knowing that unity will be stronger. We are entering a period in which the interest in Adana has increased a lot.”

ADANA IS THE CITY OF PREFERENCE FOR SUCH ORGANIZATIONS
Famous national athlete Mehmet Yurdadon, on the other hand, stated that the organizations that are not handled by the local governments could not be successful, and noted that Adana is one of the most suitable cities to host such events with its beautiful weather, location on the plain and the warmth of its people. Emphasizing that the athletes want to go to Adana because of these characteristics, Yurdadon said that important athletes will be in Adana.

This year, we are organizing the 13th anniversary of the establishment of our Republic with the slogan "First Run of the Second Century".
We can say that it is the most comprehensive half marathon organization in Turkey after Istanbul.
We will organize 21 running events together as 10 km half marathon, 10 km (5 K) run, Children's Run, Hurdle Run and Public Run.
The 21 km route of the Half Marathon consists of historical touristic and must-see places in Adana.
In order to increase the increasing interest in our city and to include the city in the marathon, for the first time, we included the main arteries, such as the Barajyolu and Turgut Özal Boulevard, which are densely populated areas, into the track.
We broke the record and got 2500 runner records.
Before, after the organization and the award ceremony will be broadcast live.
After the race, a total of 180 TL awards will be distributed to 389.250,00 Athletes.
There will be 79 referees in our organization.
On Saturday, January 7, in the chip distribution area, various gifts will be given to the athletes, such as t-shirts, bags, medals, hats, sweat bracelets, towels, fruits, turnips, protein bars, magnets. We will have pasta and soup treats for the athletes.
As in previous years, warm-up-cooling physiotherapy areas, water, fruit and soda stands will be set up for the athletes on the track. Again, music and applause points will be created for the course.
Organizations such as LÖSEV, Turkish Education Foundation, Güney Education Foundation also organize aid campaigns in our organization. We want to provide social benefits along with sports.
