During the operations carried out at the Habur Customs Gate at the end of last week by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce, a large number of smuggled mobile phones and accessories with a market value exceeding 5 million Turkish Liras were seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Customs Enforcement teams evaluated the trucks arriving at the customs area to enter Turkey within the framework of risk criteria, while vehicles deemed risky were followed closely. The four vehicles, which were sent for x-ray scanning by the teams, were taken to the search hangar to be searched in detail after the suspicious densities were determined. The teams detected smuggled items hidden in various parts of the vehicles during their searches.

In the first operation, it was revealed that 100 latest model mobile phones were stashed inside the trailer cover. In the second operation, during the control carried out on two trucks carrying rice, 9.385 charging heads and 8.285 charging cables, hidden under the rice loads, were seized, while 100 illegal electronic cigarettes were also seized. In the last operation, 400 wireless earphones, 250 charging heads and cables, and 3 mobile phones were seized, hidden in the lower spaces of the trailer of the searched vehicle.

It was determined that the value of the smuggled goods seized during the operations carried out by the Conservation teams at the Habur Customs Gate at the weekend was 5 million 308 thousand Turkish Liras.

While the seized smuggled goods are confiscated by the teams, investigations into the incidents continue before the Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
