The advisory board of the Marble İzmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair, the pioneer of the world natural stone industry, which will open its doors for the 26th time between 29 -2023 April 28, convened in İzmir. After the meeting, President Soyer said that Marble is progressing by breaking records every year and said, “Our fair, which will host exhibitors and visitors from different continents of the world, will create a significant trade volume this year compared to previous years.”

Organized by İZFAŞ and hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair continues to be the gateway of Turkish natural stone to the world. Marble, which is among the top three natural stone and technologies fairs in the world with the number of domestic and foreign visitors, is at the Historical Coal Gas Factory Cultural Center for İzmir, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerreminded that the fair attended by more than a thousand companies, 167 of which were from abroad, last year hosted more than 145 thousand participants from 8 countries, as well as more than 78 thousand visitors from the country. Giving the good news that they will open the fair with innovations this year, President Soyer said, “We have a mobile application innovation for Marble. Which means we've raised the bar. Thus, for the first time this year, we launched a mobile application that will inform everyone from all over the world who hears about Marble, wants to come, wants to make purchases in Marble, and wants to be informed about the products. As last year, we allocate a special place to our machinery and technology companies in our Cho hall. I would like to give good news in advance that there will be no empty space in our fair, while there are only three months until April. In addition, our aim in the coming years with the investments we will make is to be able to offer a place to all companies that want to participate in our Marble İzmir fair.”

“It will create a very strong export potential for our country”

Stating that the fair is full even though it has only been 3 months to start, Soyer said, “It will be a fair that will activate all the dynamics of our city and create a very strong export potential for our country. He's been breaking the record every year. We continue to work by preserving this and moving it forward. This fair is no longer just a fair for the sector. It has turned into a fair that realizes the economic dynamics of the whole of Izmir. We know that it is possible to enlarge this fair much more. We want to scale it up because there is great success. It is possible to do better than this. We need to join hands together as a national issue," he said.

“We are much stronger this year”

Emphasizing that one of the most fundamental and valuable features of İZFAŞ is that it works with a learning institution approach, President Soyer said, “Every fair is actually a school for us. We are much stronger this year thanks to the feedback and requests we received from more than a thousand companies participating in our fair. Every square centimeter of the fair, both indoors and outdoors, will provide fair organization services at international standards in the light of suggestions from our industry.”

“We created uninterrupted cooperation opportunities”

Stating that they cooperated with commercial attachés in the USA, Middle East, Asia and Europe regions throughout the year in order to further develop Marble İzmir, Tunç Soyer, said: “As a result of these efforts, visitors and participants from different continents of the world will be in Izmir in April. We will organize procurement committee programs in cooperation with exporters' unions and chambers of commerce and industry from different regions of our country. With the International Different Natural Stone Design Competition, which will be held for the fifth time this year at our fair, we bring together young designers with the innovative companies of the sector. We will present the original designs to be realized as a result of the competition to the visitors at our fair.”

“I believe that Marble İzmir will lead our country”

President Soyer Marble also explained that they anticipate Izmir to create a larger trade volume this year than in previous years, and said, “China is among the largest countries that make up this trade volume. Turkey, by nature, has been the most important reserve area of ​​marble and natural stones in the world for thousands of years. However, we cannot continue to produce by thinking that this reserve is inexhaustible. At this point, we have to invest in value-added production and increase the sector's revenue per unit export, like all modern countries. I believe with all my heart that Marble İzmir will lead our country in this regard as well.”

“We aim to increase our exports to over 2.5 billion dollars”

Rüstem Çetinkaya, President of the Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association (İMİB), said that the İzmir marble fair grows and becomes stronger every year.

İbrahim Alimoğlu, President of the Aegean Mineral Exporters' Association (EMİB), stated that the marble fair started with 50 participants and reached thousands of participants. İbrahim Alimoğlu said, “This year, we will add power to the fair by allocating more budget than possible. The Turkish natural stone industry realized an export of 2022 billion dollars in 2.1. We aim to increase natural stone exports to over 2023 billion dollars by the end of 2.5 with the connections we will make with the Marble Fair.”

“We must protect the fair and make it more qualified”

Turkish Miners Association President (TMD) Ali Emiroğlu also stated that the industry has limited reserves in the world and said: “We have a long way to go in this area. As an industry, we have important responsibilities. We must take care of this fair and make efforts to make it even more qualified.”

Hanifi Şimşek, President of Turkish Marble Natural Stone and Machinery Manufacturers Association (TUMMER), also gave information about their work. Şimşek stated that they frequently voiced all the problems of the industry and said, "We are all a family here and we will all do good work together."

“Izmir is now becoming a city of fairs”

Ender Yorgancılar, Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO), said that approximately 7 billion dollars of the 3 billion dollars' worth of mineral exports consists of natural stones. Ender Yorgancılar, who stated that this fair concerns not only İzmir but also Turkey, said, “We see that the number of foreign exhibitors and visitors is increasing day by day. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Tunç Soyer and thank you to your team. İzmir is now becoming a city of fairs. Our goal is to carry and develop other fairs like this marble fair to the same dimensions. They will always be together,” he said.

Canan Karaosmanoğlu Buyer, General Manager of İZFAŞ, made a presentation on fair preparations. In the program, the 2022 – 2023 Sector Supporters Awards by the All Marble, Natural Stone and Machinery Manufacturers Association found their owners.

It was also stated that the name of the veteran businessman Raif Türk, who has contributed to the sector and the fair by adding strength from the past to the present and who we lost in the past months, will be given to the street surrounding the fair İzmir area, with the suggestion of the sector representatives.

Within the scope of the fair; interviews, events, sculpture, workshop etc. works, natural stone design competition will also be held. Marble Izmir Fair, which will bring the natural stone and marble industry together in Izmir, will have a positive impact on the city's economy in many areas from tourism to accommodation, transportation to food and beverage industry, as in previous years. Local and foreign exhibitors and visitors who will come to the city due to the fair will stay in Izmir and make the city's economy feel the abundance of Marble.

“Different” designs will come to life with Marble İzmir

Marble İzmir will bring young designers together with the innovative companies of the sector with the 5th International Different Natural Stone Design Competition, which will be held this year. The original designs to be realized within the scope of the competition will meet the visitors at the 28th Marble İzmir Fair.
