Istanbul – Edirne – Kapikule high standard railway, Halkalı It is a high standard railway project under construction between the Train Station and Kapıkule Train Station in Edirne.

The entire YSD line is under construction, and the work continues in two separate sections. YSD line Halkalı - Çerkezköy sector with own resources, Çerkezköy – The Kapıkule section is being built with the resources obtained from the European Union grant funds. The line is planned to enter service in 2023. When the line is completed, Ankara – Istanbul will be integrated with the high-speed railway and will connect Istanbul to Edirne and from there to Bulgaria, as well as contribute to the rapid transportation of freight trains from Anatolia to Europe thanks to the Marmaray Tunnel.

It will be built with double tracks, suitable for 200 kilometers, signaled and electrified, to serve freight and passenger trains, and the total investment value will reach 10.5 billion liras, 53 underpasses, 59 overpasses, 16 railway bridges, 2 tunnels, 194 culverts and 3 viaduct will be constructed.
