The activities planned to be realized within the scope of "2023 Tourism Capital of the Islamic World Şanlıurfa" were introduced with a press conference held at Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Akif İnan Conference Hall.
In the night where Artist Ahmet Özhan, one of the important performers of Sufi Music, also took the stage, information was conveyed about the activities to be held in Şanlıurfa in 2023 under the title of "Tourism Capital of the Islamic World" with the slogan "Since the Beginning".

Stating that Şanlıurfa deserves the title of Tourism Capital of the Islamic World, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül stated that they are preparing the city for 2023 in every respect.
Mayor Beyazgül said, “On 16 December 2019, on behalf of our Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, with my signature, we informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Directorate of Bilateral Political Affairs, to the General Directorate of Bilateral Political Affairs, and demanded that the decision to be taken as the 2023 Islamic World Tourism Capital Tourism City.
Our petition was approved and Şanlıurfa was declared as the Tourism City of the Islamic World in 27 in the 2022th Session of the Tourism Ministers of 57 Islamic Countries that attended the Islamic Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 11 June 2023. We would like to thank all the individuals and institutions who contributed to this process.” Said.

I would like to thank our President once again for this announcement, which has been instrumental in recognizing the historical values of our Şanlıurfa and attracting more tourists to the city. The declaration of Şanlıurfa as a tourism city by the Cooperation Countries of the Islamic Countries will bring a new momentum and attraction to Şanlıurfa. he spoke.

Expressing that various programs and events will be held throughout the year, President Beyazgül said, "Morocco - Rabat, Saudi Arabia - Medina, Egypt - Cairo, Palestine - Jerusalem, Iran - Tabriz, Turkey - Konya was declared as the Tourism Capital of the Islamic World by the Islamic Cooperation. Under the leadership of our Governor Salih Ayhan and with the cooperation of our institutions, we have determined the activities we will do in 2023. We have also prepared the event calendar on this subject. We will bring our events to life one by one. Şanlıurfa is an unrivaled city with 12 thousand years old Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe and Taş Tepes. Şanlıurfa is a city that rewrites history. Şanlıurfa is an exceptional city where fire turns into water. Many prophets lived here. Hz. Eyup, St. Shuayb, Hz. Abraham and many other prophets lived here. These beautiful reflections from the prophets still come to life in Şanlıurfa.” He used his expressions.

We reveal the history by expropriating the reinforced concrete structures that disrupt the historical texture of the city. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we give great support to the archaeological excavations in Şanlıurfa. Şanlıurfa will reach the place it deserves. We are ready. From Balıklıgöl to Harran, from Göbeklitepe to Halfeti, this city, which houses various treasures, has the potential to attract the attention of many people.”
