The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry works with all its might to promote modern irrigation in agriculture, to provide the highest benefit from agricultural lands through consolidation works, to deliver healthy and drinkable water to taps, and to protect settlements and agricultural lands against flood risks. It also protects every drop of water with its management approach.

Tire Dereli Dam is ready in 2023

Tire Dereli Dam, which will give life to 1420 decares of land in the Küçük Menderes basin, one of the most productive basins in Turkey, is approaching the end step by step. Noting that the body filling works in the construction continue at full speed, DSI General Manager Prof. Dr. Lütfi AKCA gave the good news to the producers from İzmir Tire. He said that the dam will hold water in the first months of 2023.

300 thousand m3 of filling will be done

Noting that the body of the Tire Dereli Dam, which is projected to be 45 meters high from the foundation, was designed as a clay core sand-gravel fill type, DSİ General Manager Prof. Dr. Lütfi AKCA said, “We have completed the hull, spillway, relief excavations and conduit, water intake structures and cofferdam productions in the construction so far. We have completed approximately 300 thousand m3 of the 100 thousand m3 body fill. Our goal is to keep water in the dam in the first months of 2023," he said.

3,5 million lira additional income

Reminding that they have completed the Yenişehir and Eskioba Dams in Tire and put them into service for the regional producer, DSİ General Manager Prof. Dr. Lütfi AKCA said that the Dereli Dam, which will be the 3rd Dam of the district, will introduce modern irrigation to 1420 decares of land.

Emphasizing that the dam, which will have a water storage capacity of 720 thousand m3, will make a great contribution to the economy of the region and the country, DSI General Manager Prof. Dr. Lütfi AKCA announced that thanks to the dam, producers from İzmir will generate an average of 2022 million 3 thousand liras in additional income every year, with 550 figures.
