The Şanlıurfa Northwest Ring Road, which regulates Şanlıurfa's urban and intercity transportation, was put into service on Saturday, December 3, with the public opening ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ministers, Deputies, bureaucrats and many citizens attended the ceremony, which was attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and General Director of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

Wishing the Ring Road to be beneficial for Şanlıurfa and the people of Şanlıurfa, President Erdoğan stated that they have increased the length of the divided highway they took over from 29 kilometers in transportation to 604 kilometers. Erdoğan also added that they will complete the deficiencies on the Şanlıurfa-Akçakale and Şanlıurfa-Silvan roads next year.

Within the scope of the highway investments made in Şanlıurfa, after the 12-kilometer Southwest Ring Road was completed in 2015, the 11-kilometer Eastern Ring Road was completed in 2018, and the Çevikkuvvet Köprülü Junction was completed in 2021 as a bituminous hot mix paved divided highway, the Northwest Ring Road was opened to the service of citizens. . Thus, Şanlıurfa's 32,4-kilometer ring road network was completed.

With the Ring Road, the average travel speed and driving comfort in the city were increased.

Şanlıurfa Northwest Ring Road, which was built with the aim of increasing the transportation capacity of Şanlıurfa and relieving the traffic density, will serve a part of the urban traffic as well as the transit traffic. The average travel speed and driving comfort in the city were increased with the Ring Road, which was built with 4 lanes, the sections within the city of which are 4 departures and 8 arrivals; traffic, life and property safety was ensured.

On the ring road that will serve the traffic in 2×2 lane, bituminous hot mix paved divided road standard; Direkli Valley was passed with a 376-meter viaduct. The project also includes 446 interchanges with a length of 3 meters, an underpass bridge of 50 meters and 1 culverts with a total length of 1.380 meters.

Transit traffic was removed from the city and uninterrupted transportation was provided.

High standard transportation has been established between the Northwest Ring Road and Çevikkuvvet Köprülü Junction, as well as the Şanlıurfa-Gaziantep State Highway, Şanlıurfa-Diyarbakır State Highway and the East Ring Road. In addition, the transit traffic between Karaköprü district and Evren and Organized Industrial Zones was removed from the city and uninterrupted transportation was provided.

With the ring road and crossroads providing uninterrupted traffic flow in the region, a total of 146,5 million TL will be saved annually, 31,9 million TL from time and 178,4 million TL from fuel; carbon emissions will decrease by 6.770 tons.
