Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the annual passenger capacity of Amasya Merzifon Airport has been increased to over 700 thousand passengers with the new terminal building, and said, “We have Istanbul Airport flights from Merzifon Airport every day. As of January 1, our Sabiha Gökçen Airport flights will begin.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the opening ceremony of Amasya Merzifon Airport Terminal; “Throughout history, our country has been the intersection point of continents, civilizations and ancient transportation corridors. Our country, which is a natural bridge in the east-west corridor between Asia and Europe, is also in the middle of the north-south corridors stretching from the Caucasus countries and Russia to Africa. We have developed the aviation industry and activities with all our might in order to protect this geographical superiority of our country. We have upgraded our aviation infrastructure above world standards. Under the leadership of our President, we have made a revolution in the field of aviation.”

WE SUCCESSFUL TO TURN TURKEY INTO THE WORLD'S LARGEST FLIGHT NETWORK COUNTRY

Emphasizing that they have made up for the lost years in the aviation industry in the last 20 years and have also turned Turkey into a global center in aviation, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the 2003 billion dollar investment they made only for aviation in the 2021-16,2 period brought great benefits to Turkey.

“We contributed 185 billion dollars to Gross National Product and 402 billion dollars to production. In this period, only our employment contribution approached 7 million people," said Karaismailoğlu, and continued as follows:

“With the changes in the Regional Aviation Policy initiated by our Ministry in 2003, our civil aviation entered a very rapid growth process. Today, we have succeeded in making Turkey the country with the largest flight network in the world. Finally; We opened the Tokat airports on 25 March 2022 and the Rize-Artvin airports on 14 May 2022, increasing the number of active airports from 2003 domestic airports to 26 in 57. By adding 50 new destinations to the number of international flight destinations, which was 60 in 282 countries, we reached 130 destinations in 342 countries. Again in 2003; Our number of aircraft, which was 162, increased by 265 percent to 592, seat capacity increased by 304 percent from 27 thousand 599 to 111 thousand 523, cargo capacity increased by 783 percent from 303 tons to 2 thousand 676 tons. The number of passengers, which was 30 million, reached 20 million in 210 years. In addition to Istanbul Airport, whose economic contribution has been very high with a multiplier effect, since it was opened with an investment of 10,25 billion Euros and a rental income of 26 billion Euros, without a single penny coming out of our state's coffers and our nation's pockets; At Antalya Airport, which was tendered with the Build-Operate-Transfer model, we started an investment of more than 765 million Euros, which will be made without leaving a penny from the state. We will receive 25 billion 8 million euros of rent for 555 years of operation. In March 25, 2 billion 138 million 750 thousand euros, which is 2022 percent of the rental price, entered the coffers of our state.”

WE HAVE ADVANCED CLASS IN WORLD CIVIL AVIATION

Karaismailoğlu stated that with the historical steps taken in civil aviation in the last 20 years, Turkey has made a leap forward in world civil aviation, and said, “We have accomplished the works that cannot be done in 100 years in 20 years by realizing historical projects with successful financial models. We prepared our industry for the Turkish Century. Turkish Civil Aviation is almost the only country that has recovered the fastest after the pandemic and continues its activities without interruption and disruption. Istanbul Airport ranked 2021st in the European passenger traffic ranking in 1. This has been the best proof of success. Ranking first in Europe once again, Istanbul Airport is also number one among the best airports in the world, with a total of 11 million passengers hosted in 59 months this year, over 388 flights and service quality. Moreover; Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport ranked 6th in Europe and Antalya Airport ranked 9th in Europe. With the motivation provided by these achievements and the favor of our nation; We continue our investments in the field of aviation and the development of its infrastructure without slowing down.”

WE ARE ALSO THE FERHATS OF THIS AGE

Noting that Amasya is growing and developing, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said that the demand for air transportation is also increasing. Karaismailoğlu, “Our investigations showed that; The existing airport is unable to meet this need. We started work right away. We have built a new terminal building in accordance with today's conditions and befitting Amasya. We increased the annual passenger capacity to over 700 thousand passengers. We expanded the check-in hall and increased the number of counters to 6. For the future of Amasya, we are making huge investments in every mode of transportation in order to improve the quality of life of our citizens in Amasya. 'Ferhat', which inspired us in many transportation projects that we started by saying, 'Hit the digging on the mountain, Ferhat, most of them are gone', came from the heart of Amasya. We are the Ferhats of this era. One of our important highway investments in Amasya is undoubtedly the 'Amasya Ring Road'. We completed our ring road, which we opened under the leadership of our President on May 25, 2020, at the standard of 11,3 kilometers divided road. With the ring road coming into service, urban transportation took a sigh of relief and Amasyalı was relieved. Intercity transit distance has been shortened by 2 kilometers and city transit time has been shortened by 30 minutes.
