More passengers are choosing the most convenient way to pay their fare – with biometric technologies. As of January 2023, we will start to connect 330 more turnstiles to this system. In total, there will be more than 900 turnstiles in the Moscow Metro. Biometrics is used by more than 43 users who have made more than 220 million trips. Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport Maksim Liksutov said that passengers use the system about 110 times a day.

Also, Moscow modernized all 249 turnstiles in the Moscow Central Circle (MCC, surface subway lining). The new turnstiles accept debit cards and work more than twice as fast (triple – via Face Pay). Brightly colored backlighting and large letters on the screens make it more suitable for visually impaired passengers. The large screens of the new turnstiles show the status of the ticket: remaining balance, number of trips or days to expiration. The updated turnstile also has a QR code reader that can make it possible to use the FasterPaymentsSystem directly on the device.

Moscow Transport has one of the most advanced high-tech ticketing systems with a wide range of innovative contactless solutions. Recognized internationally: awarded the prestigious Transport Ticketing Award as Best Ticketing Program in 2020 and 2021.
