Speaking at the opening ceremony of Mersin-Tarsus Highway Junction - Mersin OSB Connection Junction, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that the high-speed train line from Mersin to Gaziantep is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.

Karaismailoğlu stated that they have implemented very important projects in all transportation sectors in Mersin, which will develop with all transportation modes, as it is all over Turkey, and drew attention to the rapid progress of the work on the high-speed train line from Mersin to Gaziantep. He emphasized that with the project, which has a length of 312,5 kilometers and is planned to be completed by the end of 2024, the travel time between Mersin-Adana and Gaziantep will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Karaismailoğlu said, “The work of our Çukurova Regional Airport, which will meet the airline transportation needs of the region when it is put into service, continues successfully. We have completed the entire infrastructure construction. We also achieved 73 percent progress in superstructure construction. Mersin Terminal 2nd Phase Expansion Project at Mersin International Port, which will further develop our increasing maritime trade volume between all countries in the region, is also continuing rapidly. With the port expansion project, the port capacity will increase from 2,6 million TEU to 3,6 million TEU, and 500 additional employment opportunities will be created once it is completed and put into operation. In addition, our study project works continue at Mersin container port. Mersin, with its expanding and developing road network, growing port, Regional Çukurova Airport and rising nuclear power plant, is taking firm steps towards becoming one of the most popular transportation, energy and trade centers of our country. This is happening not only in Mersin, but all over our country," he said.
