ABB Environmental Protection and Control Department, Ankara City Council and TED University Industrial Design students made use of the materials from the roof of the renovated AŞTİ and built a hut for stray animals to shelter in during the cold winter months.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its works with the understanding of Mayor Mansur Yavaş that “Every life is valuable in the capital”. With the cooperation of ABB Environmental Protection and Control Department, Ankara City Council and TED University students, a hut was built for the souls living on the street. Nests made of wood from the roof of the renovated AŞTİ were given to associations and animal lovers in line with the demands.

With the arrival of the winter season, the Metropolitan Municipality, which has increased the feeding activities for the souls living on the street, has implemented a new project.

ABB Environmental Protection and Control Department, Ankara City Council and TED University Industrial Design students made use of the materials from the roof of the renovated AŞTİ and built a hut for stray animals to shelter in during the cold winter months. The huts were delivered to associations and foundations established for stray animals through the Ankara City Council Animal Rights Working Group.

“Like humans, our animals need shelter”

To TED University students; Stating that they provide workshop support with the wooden boards removed from the roof of AŞTİ, whose renovation works have been completed, landscape architect Gül Akkaya, who is in charge of the Environmental Protection and Control Department, said, “A hut for our souls on the street in cooperation with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, Ankara City Council and TED University. we are doing. We were already building huts for our lives on the street with the old items in the playgrounds. This time, we signed a collaboration with TED University students.”

Ankara City Council Animal Rights Working Group SözcüRabia Erentuğ said, “We received a request from the students of the Industrial Design Department at TED University. They designed 7-8 huts themselves. Then we chose the most feasible project and implemented their demands and projects. Just like humans, our animals also need shelter," he said.

On the other hand, TED University students, who converted waste materials into huts to shelter the souls on the street during cold winter days, expressed their happiness with the following words:

Sena Atay: “It was a very good experience for me. It's my first time in a workshop environment, and it's very nice to bring such a project to life for street animals. We thank you."

Şeyma Sword: “We are very excited. We are very happy that we are doing something for the animals on the street. They also need shelter like everyone else and we contributed to this. We thank you."

Nefise Naz Yalçınkaya: “As a school, we are very excited to prepare such a project and bring it to life. In this way, I had the chance to enter the workshop for the first time. It was a great opportunity for us. Thank you to everyone who has been instrumental in the cause we serve.”

Berfin Uygurlu: “We spent a lot of time on the project. We have prepared a project that provides the most suitable conditions for them. I am excited, it is a pleasure to do something for them.”

Bartu Dogan: “I am happy to take part in this project. Not every stray animal has a shelter. That's why I'm really happy to be involved in a job that will support them. I also had a very enjoyable time. We thank you."
