Exports of the Chemical Industry Exceeded 11 Billion Dollars in 30 Months

In November, the chemical industry realized an export of 9,9 billion dollars with an increase of 2,6 percent. The sector's exports in the first 11 months increased by 34,2 percent and exceeded 30 billion dollars.

While the chemical industry was the second largest exporter in November, it continues to maintain its leadership in the eleven-month period. The exports of the sector, which has a monthly share of 11,9 percent in the country's exports, increased by 9,9 percent compared to the previous year and realized an export value of 2,6 billion dollars. The chemical industry grew by 30,7 percent with an export of 34,2 billion dollars in the first eleven-month period.

Evaluating the November export figures of the chemical industry, Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB), said, “Our sector's exports increased by 9,9 percent in November, amounting to 2,6 billion dollars. In the January-November period, the increase in exports was 34,2 percent and we exported 30,7 billion dollars. While our country grew by 3,9 percent on an annual basis in the third quarter, it contracted by 0,1 on a quarterly basis. We think that the decrease in growth was due to the decrease in domestic and foreign demand, as well as the slowdown in industrial production and, accordingly, in exports. However, when we look at the global developments, while there are many factors that negatively affect our exports and growth, such as recession expectations, recession, energy prices, raw material prices, we find it important that our country's exports continue to increase and maintain the growth trend, albeit limited. As İKMİB, we organized two important sectoral trade delegations to Uzbekistan and Kenya in November in order to contribute to the increase in the exports of our chemical industry, to increase the share of our member companies from the global market, to expand their existing markets and to acquire new markets. We realized our national participation organizations in Beautyworld ME, Medica and Cosmoprof fairs and the purchasing committees of international fairs such as Plast Eurasia Istanbul, Turkchem Eurasia 2022 organized in our country. As the chemical industry, we will continue to work with all our strength to contribute more to production and exports. We aim to complete this year with a new record of over 33 billion dollars.”
