In the morning hours, IETT bus and tram collided on Alibeyköy Marshal Fevzi Çakmak Street in Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul. Due to business hours, both the bus and the tram were quite crowded. After the accident, many firefighters and medical teams were directed to the scene. 4 people were injured, 19 of them seriously.
The tram carrying passengers on the T5 Cibali-Alibeyköy Pocket Bus Terminal line hit the IETT bus, which was trying to cross the tramway on Alibeyköy Marshal Fevzi Çakmak Street. Due to the impact of the collision, the windows were broken and there was great damage. A vehicle on the road at the time was also damaged.
As the tram derailed due to the accident, the bus hit another vehicle on the road. 4 people were injured, 19 of them seriously. 1 person stuck in IETT bus was rescued by firefighters. Some passengers survived the accident with minor injuries. The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
In the statement made by Metro Istanbul, it was said, "Our services are temporarily between Cibali-University stations on our T5 Cibali-Alibeyköy Cep Bus Terminal Tram Line."
