Chinese State Council Member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto via video conference yesterday and signed an agreement on the establishment of an intergovernmental Belt and Road cooperation committee.

Pointing out that the international situation has entered a new era full of changes, Wang Yi said that the continuous, healthy and stable development of Sino-Hungarian relations not only suits the common interests of the two peoples, but also helps the stability of China-Europe relations.

Pointing out that Hungary is the first European country to sign the Belt and Road cooperation agreement with China, Wang Yi added that the agreement will create a new platform and provide dynamism for the two sides to build the Belt and Road in a more qualified way.

Pointing out that China is not a rival but a partner of Europe, Szijjarto stated that they are ready to increase mutual trust with China and to deepen concrete cooperation in all fields.
