At the event, a sister city agreement was signed between Gaziemir and Osterholz, two counties of Izmir and Bremen.

Speaking at the reception, President Soyer said, “We have been seeing this since the moment we arrived. There are more reasons that unite us than the reasons that separate us. Equality, justice, freedom, human rights, respect for nature, we have common values ​​in many topics. In the world we live in, male-dominated, authoritarian and populist powers are trying to prevent these associations. We need three things. Conscience, courage and solidarity. We will overcome the obstacles together in all the works, events, fairs we will do. Today, two districts of Izmir and Bremen, Gaziemir and Osterholz, signed a sister city agreement. The people of Bremen and Izmir will achieve much better.”

Bremen Mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, on the other hand, stated that such events are very important in uniting the people and economy of the two cities and said, “The forum, first held in Izmir, is now turning into concrete outputs in Bremen. This is really exciting,” he said.

Stating that they had very productive meetings when he came to Izmir in June, Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte said, “I sincerely wish our relations to continue in this way. Being a sister city is very important. In addition to economic cooperation, we have and will continue to have partnerships on many topics. Education programs between the two cities will play an important role in meeting the young generations. Our partnership has a cultural, political and spiritual dimension. It is very important that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality brings its exhibition on gender equality to Bremen. In this context, there were very eye-opening discussions. Cooperation between ports was discussed

Within the scope of the Germany program, a meeting was held where cooperation opportunities were discussed between the ports of Izmir and Bremen. The meeting was attended by Bremen University of Applied Sciences Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. It started with a presentation by Thomas Pawlik. Yusuf Öztürk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Izmir Chamber of Shipping, also explained the work in Izmir and answered the questions. Stefan Farber, Head of Bremen Port Development and Innovation Unit, talked about their work on climate neutral and smart ports.
At the meeting, Head of Port Economy and Logistics Unit from Bremen Ministry of Science and Ports, Dr. Iven Kramer and Svetlin Ivanov from the Bremen Cargo Distribution Center were also present. After the meeting, university officials toured the ship simulator training facility.
