Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin met yesterday with the parties of the commission, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay and TİSK President Özgür Burak Akkol. During the meeting, the working schedule of the commission was determined. According to the determined calendar, the first meeting will be held on 7 December and the second meeting will be held on 14 December.
Before the commission, Türk-İş's file includes the “hunger-poverty line” research, which was announced to the public the previous day. According to this research, the hunger limit is 7 thousand 785 liras. The monthly cost of living for a single employee is 10 thousand 170 liras. The expectation on the part of the workers is that the new figure will be above the hunger limit. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will determine how much of an increase will be on this.
According to the expectation, the government will announce a wage that can be said to be "we did not crush the workers with inflation" in the election squares. Before the meeting, November inflation rates will also be seen. The Central Bank's year-end inflation expectation is 65.2 percent. Even if this rate is taken into account, the minimum wage should be increased above 9 thousand liras.
Turkish Metal Union Chairman Pevrul Kavlak will chair the commission meetings from Türk-İş. Özgür Burak Akkol, President of TİSK, representing the employers, said that they will continue to take responsibility for a triple signature at a balanced wage that protects the employees and is satisfied by the employer.
Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay said that whenever wages are discussed, prices increase on the shelves. Pointing out that cheese, which was 35 liras last year, is now 150 liras, Atalay said that if there is a fee that will make the society smile, they can sign a tripartite agreement, but if there is a figure they do not want, they will not be at the table.
