Within the scope of the “Solidarity in the Neighborhood” project of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented many projects for the people of Izmir living in the back rows of the city and facilitated the lives of disadvantaged children, 200 volunteer youth and 100 siblings had a great time at the Aşık Veysel Ice Rink.

Touching the lives of young people with the “Solidarity in the Neighborhood” project, the Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring together volunteers and siblings by the Social Projects Department, Youth Studies and Social Projects Branch Directorate.

Children at the ice rink for the first time

100 brothers and 200 volunteers living in Konak Ballıkuyu, Bornova Çamkule and Buca Göksu neighborhoods enjoyed skating for the first time on the Aşık Veysel Ice Rink. The children, who spent time on the ice rink with the support of the volunteers, had a lot of fun. Within the scope of the project, which started on November 19, volunteers and children will come together in many programs from the theater to the Wild Life Park tour, from the Gulf tour to neighborhood activities. In addition, in the project, peer bullying and similar child development trainings are given to families and children by expert psychologists and child development specialists.

"They are so happy"

Dilay Bayrav, one of the volunteers in Bornova Çamkule region, said, “Children are very happy right now. They even said they couldn't sleep last night. “Children living in disadvantaged areas are our priority.” The children said that they had a lot of fun and that they would like to come again.

With the There is Solidarity in the Neighborhood project, university students or graduates between the ages of 18-30 are brought together with primary school 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students to experience sharing and solidarity. At the same time, it is aimed to contribute to the development of individuals who are loyal to the basic principles and values ​​of the Republic, peaceful, thinking, questioning, self-confident, sensitive to the environment, respectful of different views and beliefs, and free from discrimination. The study takes place on Saturdays between November and May every year. Project volunteers visit the homes of families determined by home visits, and the activities determined by expert teams are implemented with the children.
