Silkworm farming is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

After the traditional Ahlat stonemasonry, one more element of Turkey was included in the UNESCO Lists as an intangible cultural heritage. The candidacy file of 'Silk Breeding and Traditional Production of Silk for Weaving' prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was put on the agenda at the 17th Intergovernmental Committee on the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.

At the meeting that continued in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, one of our cultural elements, which has hundreds of years of tradition, was registered on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Thus, the number of assets in Turkey's UNESCO Lists rose to 23.

In addition, on Tuesday, 'Traditional Ahlat Stonemasonry' was registered on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List Requiring Urgent Protection.
