Konya Metropolitan Municipality introduced the bicycle tram to primary school students within the scope of the "Bicycle Friendly School" project, which was implemented under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to raise awareness of traffic safety in students and to teach conscious bicycle riding techniques.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to organize various cycling events in the cycling city of Konya.
Under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, within the scope of the "Bicycle Friendly School" project, which was initiated to raise awareness of traffic safety in children, Konya Metropolitan Municipality also puts primary school students on the bicycle tram.
A bicycle team of 10, consisting of 4th grade students from Selçuklu Şehit İbrahim Betin Primary School, one of the 20 primary schools in Konya, which was designated as the “Bicycle Friendly School”, traveled on the bicycle tram. During the journey from Kültürpark to Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır Stop, various gifts were distributed to the little students.
The students, who got on the bicycle tram for the first time, suggested that they go to school by bicycle and that the bicycle is both a safe and environmentally friendly vehicle and recommended that everyone ride a bicycle.
With the “Bike Friendly School” project, Konya Metropolitan Municipality aims to introduce the cycling richness of Konya to the students in the cycling team and to increase the awareness of the students on this issue.
