Dr.Hüseyin Halıcı, CEO of Halıcı Group, met with students at the "Robotics and Automation Summit" organized for the second time this year by the IEEE Gebze Technical University Student Community. Hüseyin Halıcı made a presentation titled “Digital Transformation, Industry 2 and Society 4.0” and conveyed the known truths and mistakes about artificial intelligence and Industry 5.0 to young people.
IEEE Gebze Technical University Student Community organized the Robotics and Automation Summit for the second time this year and hosted industry veterans as speakers. Halıcı Group CEO Hüseyin Halıcı took his place among the speakers of the summit held at Gebze Technical University Congress Center on 2 December. In his presentation titled "Digital Transformation, Industry 20 and Society 4.0", Hüseyin Halıcı, who conveyed his knowledge and experience in the field of digital transformation to young people, answered the questions of the students.
“THE STRONG THINGS REMAIN IN THE WORLD”
Hüseyin Halıcı started his presentation at the 2nd Robotics and Automation Summit by reaching into the past of humanity. In his speech extending from the hunter and agricultural society to the industrial revolutions, Halıcı said: “Life is developing very fast. Therefore, we don't actually need to know anything, the important thing is our ability to learn something we don't know. You should be able to learn it when necessary and use it as you wish in your business and social life. Technology and science are actually a structure that people produce for their development, but that brings them to daily life together with industry. Therefore, we are powerful beings. The strong ones stay in the world, the weak ones are eliminated. Every development we experience today happens thanks to our minds.”
HUMAN FACTOR IN INDUSTRY 4.0
Emphasizing the agricultural society, “Humanity could have remained in the structure of agricultural society. We could have easily continued our lives, but we did not stop. Today, we are moving towards a more conscious structure," said Halıcı, and pointed out that developments such as industrial revolutions, Industry 4.0, robotization and artificial intelligence are natural processes experienced by humanity. Stating that the trigger of the first industrial revolution was steam energy and factories were formed, Tesla discovered alternative current in the second industrial revolution, and electronics were invented in the third industrial revolution; Pointing to the biggest difference of Industry 4.0, he said, “It was human beings who triggered the fourth industrial revolution”. Hüseyin Halıcı also underlined that the industry has changed our way of life and continued his presentation as follows: “As you know, unmanned factories are on the agenda today. Concepts such as IoT, Industry 4.0, and Society 5.0 emerged. So, what is Industry 4.0? Look, remember this, a digital transformation without artificial intelligence is not industry 4.0. It is an automation. It's in Industry 3.0 and we're still using it anyway. Society 5.0 means digitalization not only in industry but also in all areas of life. This provides flexibility, convenience and advantage. In the 90s, an information society was formed with the internet. But now a social structure that we call “super-conscious” is emerging. In terms of mind, we are not very different from people a thousand years ago, but we are very different with our consciousness structure. That is why we are here today.”
LOOKING FOR DIFFERENCE STARTS
In his speech, Halıcı CEO Hüseyin Halıcı also clarified one of the confusing concepts, Society 5.0. Stating that Industry 4.0 brings flexibility in production, Halıcı said, “Everyone wants the products they use to be unique to themselves. This brings flexibility in production. It should be independent of people, should be of high quality, and most importantly, mental workforce should be at the forefront instead of physical workforce. A similar situation exists in Society 5.0. It is possible to carry the world to a very advanced point by using digitalization in every field from environmental awareness to terrorism problems. We are currently in the transition phase, we will see the advantages of this digitalization in every field in the future.”
“DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION WITHOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS NOT POSSIBLE”
Saying, “A digital transformation is not possible without artificial intelligence,” Hüseyin Halıcı added that there is no digital transformation yet and continued: “New professions will emerge, a new way of life will develop. Digital transformation will change your lifestyle. With new jobs, new working conditions will emerge. This digitalization is one of the steps that takes us to a world we want. Do you know what we want? We want to live happily. We must eliminate physical work in it. Because digital transformation is not an option, it is a necessity!”
“ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL REPLACE OUR WORKS”
In the continuation of his presentation, Hüseyin Halıcı also gave advice to business world candidates who will graduate from the university. Conveying his suggestions on “New Generation Leadership”, Halıcı then answered the questions of the youth. One of the common concerns of the world's youth and middle-aged working people about robotization and artificial intelligence, "Will we be unemployed when robots replace us?" Halıcı answered the question by saying: “Developed countries are trying to distance us from digitalization. They don't want us to be a technology-driven society. Artificial intelligence does not have a problem with replacing humans, because we design it. Artificial intelligence will replace our work, not ours. There is nothing to replace life! Artificial intelligence is like a child, it grows the way we train it, and it will replace the work of humans, not humans. Remember, the world of the future will be determined by humans and artificial intelligence will rule.”
