Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which set out to be the pioneer of life without disabilities, introduced the goals of the Elim Sende project, which it will continue in 2023, to professional chambers, non-governmental organizations, associations, foundations and universities. Speaking at the meeting, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay said, "I want you to know that we are working hard to create a modern city that is completely free from obstacles, accessible to everyone."

We know that everyone will own the projects we do using science and common sense while creating a disabled-friendly city. Just like in this project, we have to walk towards new goals. We must dream big. I want you to know that as Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we are working with all our strength to create a modern city that is completely free from obstacles, has become accessible to everyone.”

Anıl Kaçar, Head of Social Projects Department, emphasized the importance of the project and said, “We carry out information, awareness, guidance, counseling and empowerment activities for all segments of the society, especially the disabled, women, children, youth, unemployed, homeless, uneducated and elderly people. We continue our projects with the common mind and partnership of young people, young volunteers and non-governmental organizations. We gave a real platform to relevant stakeholders, especially young people, within the scope of the project. Because young people are not only the ones of the future, but also the speakers of today.”

My Hand is in You project
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which started the project "My Hand is in You" aiming to develop the sense of empathy in the society, brings together volunteer youth and children from different cities of Turkey, besides the districts of Izmir, with this project that sets an example for Turkey. Developed in order to contribute to the discourse of “Another Disability Policy is Possible”, the Elim Sende project aims to raise awareness among children. With the project, the productivity of children and young people is supported by works of art. Thus, it is aimed to contribute to social life, especially disability awareness, and to produce projects that facilitate the lives of disabled people.
