Yogurt, which has an important place in Turkish cuisine, is known for its health benefits thanks to the rich vitamins and minerals it contains. Yogurt has a great importance in the nutrition of all age groups from infancy, and plays a major role in the menopause process in terms of calcium it contains. Supports immunity

“Yogurt facilitates digestion and helps the intestines work. It provides an advantage in digestion due to its low lactose content compared to milk. Thanks to the probiotics it contains, it supports body immunity as well as digestion.

Effective in preventing osteoporosis

Yogurt strengthens and protects bones due to the calcium it contains. Therefore, it is of great importance in the prevention of osteoporosis (bone loss). The most important function of calcium is to protect the health of bones and teeth and to ensure their development. Therefore, the need for calcium increases even more during the period of rapid growth, pregnancy and lactation.

Very rich in phosphorus

Yogurt is also rich in phosphorus. Phosphorus is the basic building blocks of DNA and RNA molecules in cells. It provides the entire energy cycle in the cell. 200 g, that is, 1 bowl of low-fat yogurt consists of 36% carbohydrates, 32% protein and 32% fat. 1 bowl of yogurt averages 100 kcal.

The vitamins and minerals in yogurt are as follows;

  • 100 mg sodium
  • 320mg potassium
  • 230mg of calcium
  • 200 mg of phosphorus
  • 10 mg cholesterol
  • 44 iu of vitamin A
  • 2mg of vitamin C

Do not pour the green juice of the yogurt

Yogurt bacteria synthesize vitamins B1, B2, B3 during their activities. Therefore, these vitamins support the body in skin health. The green juice of the yogurt should never be poured. The high amount of riboflavin it contains is involved in growth, tissue regeneration and energy metabolism. Yogurt can be consumed at any meal of the day. It can be preferred for main meals or snacks.

Consume at least 1 bowl of yogurt a day

The amount of yogurt to be consumed daily varies according to the consumption of other milk groups. If other dairy products are not consumed and appropriate for the person's calorie needs, the portion can be increased. If milk and cheese are consumed during the day, at least 1 bowl of yogurt per day is sufficient. However, if it is not consumed at all, this can increase to 3-4 bowls. Some instant yogurts have high amounts of added sugar and other non-beneficial additives. For this reason, it is very important to choose reliable natural yoghurts.”
