TAI Won Green Champion 2022 Award

Turkish Aerospace Industries continues to undertake exemplary environmentalist studies in the aviation sector. The company, which has been deemed worthy of many national and international awards with its projects in this field, won the "Green Champion 2022" award at the award ceremony where environmental projects are awarded by The Green Organization. Turkish Aerospace Industries, which was awarded with its 'Water Efficiency in the Aviation Sector' project at the ceremony held at Westminster Hall in England on November 21, 2022, achieved real-time measurement, automation, monitoring, and optimization of water consumption and improvement in its automation. It aims to contribute positively to the global sustainable development goals by preventing water loss and leakage by making analyzes and ensuring efficient use of the water needed in cooling systems at the source and reducing the generation of waste water.

Turkish Aerospace Industries was awarded the “Green Champion 2022” award at the Green Apple Awards, one of the most prestigious sustainable environmental awards in the world, with its “Water Efficiency in the Aviation Sector” project, which is based on the integration of digital control systems into the water distribution network for water efficiency studies. In the project, which consists of two phases, it is aimed to instantly monitor and control the water distribution network, which serves approximately 380.000 m² of closed area, and to detect early leakages in the water distribution network. With early detection, 3 m³ of water wastage, which constitutes approximately 40.000% of annual water consumption, has been prevented. Within the scope of the project supported within the framework of environment, climate change and water policies, Turkish Aerospace Industries, which is the first organization in Turkey to have Corporate Carbon Footprint verification and ISO 14064:2018 accreditation certificate, will reduce its direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions from waste water generation and treatment to 2030. aims to reduce it by 55%.

With the "Water Efficiency Project in the Aviation Sector", which is unique in the world aviation sector, which has been reflected in the sustainability and CDP reports before, within the scope of efficient use and protection of natural resources, optimizing water treatment chemicals, calculating the water footprint, creating a water map, the loss/leakage rate is at the lowest level. Sustainable environmental management of the project is aimed, since it is aimed to keep it and intervene as soon as possible and to monitor instant consumption at water consumption points. Being the first industrial company to have a Zero Waste certificate, Turkish Aerospace Industries, with this project, aims to reduce the generation of waste water at the source and to reduce the consumption of consumables at the source and the associated waste generation by consuming less chemicals, and thanks to the zero waste philosophy, the company won the Gold World Awards in 2020. It is aimed to contribute to the zero waste management system that won the award.

Sharing his views on the "Green Apple Champion 2022" award, Turkish Aerospace Industries General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said in his statement, “We continue to carry out exemplary works on sustainable environmental management that are appreciated by the world public. As the first industrial company to have a zero waste certificate, we were deemed worthy of another prestigious international award with an exemplary work to prevent water waste, which is one of the leading sources of limited resources in the world. Within the scope of the project, we aim to contribute to the protection of natural resources with our work that will optimize water consumption with a number of digital applications and improve its automation. We will ensure that water resources are managed efficiently and sustainably with holistic approaches. I congratulate my colleagues who contributed to the award for our company with the "Water Efficiency in the Aviation Sector" project they developed.
