The rapid development of artificial intelligence and 3D printing technologies creates significant changes in the field of dentistry by facilitating the production of treatment materials created with patient-specific designs. Near East University, which has made a name for itself with its studies and technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, also carries the power of artificial intelligence and 3D printing technologies to the field of dentistry.

The study conducted at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry to measure the compatibility of STL models created using artificial intelligence with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images taken from the patient was awarded an award from the 4th International Congress of Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology, held in Izmir. returned. Near East University Faculty of Dentistry faculty members Assoc. Dr. Seçil Aksoy and Assist. Assoc. Dr. Under the supervision of Beste Kamiloğlu, Ankara University faculty member Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan, Eskisehir Osmangazi University faculty member Assoc. Dr. İbrahim Şevki Bayrakdar and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University faculty member Res. grv. Dr. With the contributions of Afra Alkan, Research Assistant Dt. Oral presentation by İsmet Ersalıcı received the second best oral presentation award at the congress.

The study, which aims to measure the reliability of linear measurements made using STL models produced with software programs and a web-based artificial intelligence dental diagnosis tool, was performed by analyzing a total of 100 cone beam computed tomography images. As a result of the study, he determined that STL images tended to over- or under-estimate measurements in terms of measured distances.

Assoc. Dr. Özay Önöral: “We also share our academic studies aimed at enriching the experience of using new technologies with the scientific world.

Emphasizing that they closely follow the changes created by the developing technologies, especially artificial intelligence, in the profession and adapt them to education and practice studies, Near East University Faculty of Dentistry Deputy Dean Assoc. Dr. Özay Önöral said, “We are working to create an environment where our students will be fully prepared for their professional life by transforming the new technologies used in dentistry into practice in our fully equipped dental hospital.”

Touching on the scientific productivity of the Near East University, Assoc. Dr. Önöral said, “On the other hand, we share our academic studies with the scientific world, aimed at enriching the experience of using new technologies. The work of our esteemed academics, which was awarded an award at the 4th International Congress of the Society of Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology, is a good example of this. I would like to thank all our teachers for their hard work.”
