İzmir Medical Chamber and İzmir City Hospital Platform organized the “İzmir City Hospital Workshop”. In the workshop, attention was drawn to the problems experienced in city hospitals.

İzmir Medical Chamber and İzmir City Hospital Platform “İzmir City Hospital Workshop” was held in İzmir. The two-day workshop was attended by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Eşrefpaşa Hospital Chief Physician Dr. Devrim Demirel, İzmir City Council President Nilay Kökkılınç, İzmir Medical Chamber President Prof. Dr. Süleyman Kaynak, President of Manisa Medical Chamber, Dr. Semih Bilgin, health professionals and representatives of district city councils attended. In the workshop, the health services of city hospitals, their effects on life, and the problems related to transportation were discussed.

Attention was drawn to the problems

Speaking at the workshop, Eşrefpaşa Hospital Chief Physician Dr. Devrim Demirel mentioned that there are operational difficulties due to the size of city hospitals, and drew attention to the distance of these hospitals to settlements.

İzmir City Council President Nilay Kökkılınç Bayraklı He pointed out that there were problems in transportation to the City Hospital. Emphasizing that the existing hospitals should not be closed because of the city hospitals, Kökkılınç stated that these hospitals are also the memory of the city.

Manisa Medical Chamber President Dr. Semih Bilgin also stated that 180 thousand physicians work with the performance system, and that the physicians' out-of-hours work has increased with short examination times. Izmir Medical Chamber President Prof. Dr. Süleyman Kaynak said, “Health workers who will work in the city hospital will already experience burnout syndrome. This syndrome will be seen as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization.”
