As part of the collective opening ceremony held in the TRNC, Güzelyurt-Lefke, Balalan-Yenierenköy and the completed village roads were put into service. The ceremony at the Public Data Center was attended by Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Fuat Oktay, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, Deputy General Manager of Highways Ahmet Sağlam, Cyprus Coordinator of Highways Aykut Mutlu, deputies, bureaucrats, company representatives. and citizens participated.

Fuat Oktay, Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, in his speech at the ceremony; The TRNC has been in a struggle for existence, development and development for half a century, sometimes the name of this struggle is tourism, education, agriculture; sometimes he said it was transportation, energy or production. Oktay wished the inaugural investments to be beneficial and thanked everyone who contributed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “It is our common goal to turn the TRNC into a center of attraction in the Eastern Mediterranean.” Underlining that the Republic of Turkey always prioritizes doing its part for the protection of law by ensuring the peace, welfare and development security of the Turkish Cypriots, Karaismailoğlu said that a total of 602 km of main roads were built in the Highways Master Plan, and the Highways Master Plan was also revised in accordance with the protocol.

After the opening speeches, Vice President Fuat Oktay received information about highway projects from our Deputy General Manager of Highways, Ahmet Sağlam, in Lefke, via live connection.

Güzelyurt-Lefke Road, one of the investments put into service, was built with a length of 17,2 km, 2×2 lanes, with a bituminous hot mix coating. With the project, the only existing road connecting Lefke, located in the westernmost part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to Güzelyurt, has been turned into a divided road.

The road crossing Güzelyurt with the ring road; It reaches Lefke as a transit without entering the Güneşköy, Aydınköy, Gaziveren, Yeşilyurt and Denizli campuses. With the project that takes the transit traffic out of the city; While Lefke's transportation to Güzelyurt and the surrounding campuses has been eased, the stop-and-go waits on the road, where 10 thousand vehicles pass daily, have been eliminated. Travel time on the route, which was shortened by 1,5 km, decreased from 21 minutes to 11 minutes.

In addition, with the completion of the road, the integrity of the uninterrupted divided road stretching from the easternmost to the westernmost part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was ensured.

With the Güzelyurt-Lefke Road, a total of 29,6 million TL of savings will be achieved annually, 6,7 million TL from time and 36,3 million TL from fuel oil, and the amount of carbon emissions will be reduced by 1.422 tons.

Balalan – Yenierenköy Road, which is the continuation of the North Coast Road; A total of 2,5 km long, 2 km of which is divided highway with 2×13,3 lanes and 2 km of which is a single road with 1×15,8 lanes, was built with a hot mix asphalt pavement.

The road, which was designed on a new route from the north of Yeşilköy and Yenierenköy campuses, has increased the transportation standard in the city centers, whose annual average daily traffic reaches 3 thousand, with the transit transportation opportunity it provides.

With the project, Kyrenia's direct connection to the Karpaz Peninsula was provided, and the northern coastal road of the TRNC was completed. The project, which also provides access to the ITU Campus, shortened the existing road by 3 km and reduced the travel time from 18 minutes to 8 minutes. With the Balalan – Yenierenköy Road, a total of 19,4 million TL savings will be achieved annually, 4,9 million TL from time and 24,3 million TL from fuel oil, and carbon emissions will be reduced by 1.017 tons.

Within the scope of the village roads, the construction works of which are divided into two as eastern roads and western roads, 2021 km in 32,5 and 2022 km in 57,5, a total of 90 km of roads were opened to traffic. It is planned to complete another 10 km section by the end of the year.​ ​
