The Ministry of National Education continues to support students with social policies to increase students' access to education. Many projects continue to be implemented decisively, from conditional education aid to student scholarships, from transported education to free meals, from free textbooks to auxiliary resources. As a result of the studies carried out in this context, the Ministry of National Education increased the number of students who eat free of charge from 1,5 million to 1 million 796 thousand 985.
Free food for 400 pre-school children
Making an evaluation on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: “For years, our ministry has been continuing to strengthen the equality of opportunity in education with many social policies. In this context, free meals for our students is an important support program. We are trying to expand the scope of this program every day. Approximately 1 million students who benefit from transported education also benefit from free lunch. In the last year, we have focused on increasing access to pre-school education. For this reason, we aimed to spread free food especially to the pre-school education level. In this context, we have provided 400 pre-school children with free meals so far.”
Free meals for 2023 million students in 2,5
Expressing that they aim to continuously increase the scope of the free meal program, Minister Özer noted that they will increase this number to 2023 million in 2,5 and that they will focus on pre-school here.
