Emirates Orders 5 New Boeing 777-200LR Cargo Planes

Emirates has announced firm orders for five new Boeing 777-200LR freighters. The first two will be delivered in 2024 and the remaining three in 2025. The deal, worth more than $1,7 billion, brings the company's order backlog to a total of 200 wide-body aircraft.

Our new order is a reflection of the company's confidence in air cargo demand and the overall growth of the industry. This order also lays the foundation for our continued growth, driven both by a diverse global airline network, the advanced handling infrastructure at our Dubai hub and the tailored transport solutions Emirates has developed to meet customers' needs.” said.

Adding more fuel-efficient 777 freighters to Emirates' fleet will allow the company to support growing demand in the freight market and move goods quickly and efficiently, not only in the Middle East region but also around the world.”

During the Dubai Air Show in November last year, Emirates announced a $777 billion investment to expand its air cargo capacity, which includes two new 777F aircraft joining the Emirates fleet this year, as well as other redevelopment plans for ten Boeing 300-1ER cargo aircraft. Redevelopment work is scheduled to begin in 2023.

Emirates was the first customer to request a Boeing 777 freighter. Since then, this versatile aircraft has become a cornerstone of the airline's operations and has been used to operate scheduled and charter flights to destinations on six continents. The range and payload of the 777-F allows Emirates to efficiently transport time- and temperature-sensitive shipments, including perishable goods, fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, pets, automobiles or racehorses.

Emirates currently has a fleet of eleven Boeing 777 freighters that complement the cargo capacity of the 380 and A777 wide-body aircraft designed primarily for passenger transport. Emirates SkyCargo is one of the world's largest air cargo carriers and offers a range of solutions to suit customer needs.
