Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which carries out field practices for adults through the Archeology Club in order to raise awareness of archeology in the society, has now taken primary school students on a journey through time in cooperation with Archeology for Children.

Bringing the city to the future with its infrastructure and superstructure investments in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality, on the other hand, does not slow down in social and cultural activities. Primary school students also get acquainted with the science of archeology within the scope of the "Anatolian My Cultural Presence" Project, which was initiated by the Bursa Archeology Club, which was established under the Metropolitan Municipality Culture Branch Directorate, in cooperation with ÇİA (Archeology for Children) and with the support of the Provincial Directorate of National Education. Within the scope of the project, 50 primary schools throughout the province will be visited and expert archaeologists will both explain archeology to 3rd and 4th grade students and show them the excavation techniques in practice.

excavation in the hall

The stage of the project at the 11 September Primary School was the scene of quite colorful scenes. While the multi-purpose hall of the school almost turned into an excavation site, Archaeologist Ceren Özçelik Han from Archeology for Children made an informative presentation. Later, the little students who participated in the archaeological excavation workshop had the pleasure of being a part of a different excavation experience. Stating that they have been working with me since 2019 to introduce children to the science of archeology, to teach the working principles of archaeologists and to provide them with information about cultural assets, Han said, "We set out to meet our children throughout the year in 50 different schools in cooperation with Bursa Archeology Club under the leadership of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. We are working very efficiently. Our children are learning about prehistoric times. At the same time, they are stepping into experimental archeology with an excavation simulation. It was a very productive work. We would like to thank Bursa Metropolitan Municipality very much.

The junior archaeologists especially enjoyed the implementation part of the project.
