Konya Metropolitan Municipality organized a bicycle tour starting from the city center and ending in the historical Zazadinhanı within the scope of “World Urbanism Day”. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya has shown a planned development process from the past in terms of urbanization, and that it is one of the rare metropolitan cities that do not have slums. Stating that they continue to urbanize in Konya by keeping sustainability in the forefront, Mayor Altay said that they also prioritize this issue in urban transportation.
Noting that there are 580 bicycle bridges in Konya, the city with the longest bicycle path network in Turkey with 4 kilometers, Mayor Altay said, “We wanted to emphasize a sustainable city approach with the bicycle tour we organized due to the 'World Urbanism Day'. In this direction, we organized a cycling program with the participation of cycling associations and groups in the city. As the 'Bicycle City', we care about organizing awareness rides in Konya, especially on such special days. Participants in the event went first to Horozluhan and then to Zazadinhan, where they both enjoyed cycling and learned about the inns and caravanserais, which are important architectural works of the Seljuk civilization.” used the phrases.
