Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has completed the renovation works it started for AŞTİ, which is used by tens of thousands of Başkent residents every day, to gain a modern and comfortable appearance.

While the existing kiosks, which have a dirty appearance, are moved to their modern and comfortable places, AŞTİ; meeting area, office, library, exhibition area and children's playgrounds gained a brand new look.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is completing the renovation works carried out in 3 stages in order to make AŞTİ, which is used by tens of thousands of Başkent residents every day, a modern and comfortable look.

In the first phase of the renovation works initiated after years at AŞTİ, one of the largest bus terminals in Turkey; Heating, fire escapes, sitting groups, ceiling lighting and ventilation systems, which have completed their economic life, were renewed one by one.

Wall covering panels made of deformed flammable materials, which have never been maintained since the day they were built, were also removed, and all interior wall coverings were replaced with non-combustible cement and gypsum-based facade covering materials.

NEW BUFFETS MEET WITH ARTS

Within the scope of the second phase works, the existing kiosks on the departure floor of AŞTİ were removed and replaced with 26 kiosks, and 10 shops were allocated to the toll booths on the side wings. The kiosks, which were made more modern and comfortable after the renovation works, were brought together with the tradesmen.

Bus offices were also reorganized according to the transportation and density areas of the citizens. The bus offices and kiosks, which were renovated with a total cost of 8 million 920 thousand TL, became more functional.

A STUDY HALL FOR STUDENTS IS CREATED

With the works carried out in the third phase of the renovation, to AŞTİ; A travel-themed library, a study hall for university students, a daily rental office, meeting rooms, an exhibition and show hall, and children's playgrounds were built.

SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM WILL BE INSTALLED ON ITS ROOF

AŞTİ, which hosts citizens traveling from all over the world, continues to work on the installation of a solar energy system (GES) on 20 square meters of its 14 thousand square meters roof area. With the GES project, 500 percent of the energy consumed by the terminal will be met by solar energy, thus saving it. In the renovation works of the roof, the level of 40 percent has been reached.

AŞTİ IS COUNTING THE DAYS FOR THE OPENING WITH ITS NEW FACE

BUGSAŞ General Manager Vecihi Halil İyigün stated that they continue to move the kiosks and stands on both the arriving and departing passenger floors to a more smooth and usable area on a certain basis, and said, “The locations of 12 kiosks and a total of 5 stands on the departing passenger floor have also been prepared, and our shopkeepers also carried out the relocation process. completed. The construction of the departing passenger floor continues, and we will complete it before the new year and put it into service," he said.

Noting that they made use of the empty space above the ticket booths and turned it into a social space, Iyigun said, “We have also completed this work. We are only counting the days for the opening. In this social area, we have a children's playground, exhibition area, reading area and library, and a meeting area with 6 sections.

“WE HAVE SEEN SERVICE THAT HAS NOT BEEN SEEN IN YEARS”

AŞTİ shopkeepers, who have gained brand new, more modern and comfortable kiosks, expressed their thoughts with the following words:

-Özgür Aksoy: “I am one of the oldest tradesmen in the garage. We operate both as a ticket office and a buffet. We've seen service here that hasn't been seen in years. Buffets have grown even larger in square meters. It has become more modern.”

-Uğur Taşkıran: “We had a very bad field before. While our usage area was 9 square meters, it is now 28 square meters and our area has expanded. It was built to meet all our needs.”

-Recep Erkin: “Our new place has become immaculate. We have no more trouble. AŞTİ has gained a healthy appearance in general.”

-Ekrem Aksoy: “I have been a tradesman here for 20 years. Our old places are now very old. It was not regular. It is so beautiful and clean now. We are very pleased with our new location.”

-Turgay Baki: “As tradesmen, we really liked our new places. We have a comfortable working space.”

-Kudret Sili: “I am a calligraphy artist. Our municipality has prepared beautiful shops for us. It was very stylish and tidy. AŞTİ took on a different atmosphere.”

-Seyfi Uzunkök: “The owners of the kiosks and booths here became shop owners at the same rate. One-to-one shops were handed over without any outsiders being taken in and the shopkeepers here being victimized. It was acted in accordance with both the law and the conscience.”
