Preparations for the Second Century's Economics Congress Continue with the 'Workers' Meeting'

Stakeholder Meetings continue

Stakeholder meetings, the first stage of the Second Century's Economics Congress, started in August with preliminary meetings attended by farmers, workers, traders, industrialists and craftsmen's organizations from every region of Turkey. The second step was taken with the October 5 meetings. The experts and managers of the institutions that form the backbone of the Turkish economy sought answers to vital questions about the future of the economy. The last phase of the stakeholder meetings started with the Farmers' Meeting held in Ovakent Village of Ödemiş on Friday, November 4th. The heads of farmer organizations operating in different regions of Turkey discussed the draft final declaration, which was created in the light of the work carried out by the expert group in October, and shared a 15-item declaration with the public.

After the farmers' meeting, the workers' stakeholders will come together on 17 November and the tradesmen, industrialists and tradesmen's stakeholders will meet on 1 December. More than 17 unions and two independent unions will attend the “Workers Gathering” on 50 November, which are the components of Birlesik Kamu-İş, DİSK, HAK-İŞ, KESK and TÜRK-İŞ.

The secretariat of the congress is carried out by the Izmir Planning Agency, which is affiliated to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

It will continue with expert meetings

Following the completion of the stakeholder meetings, four separate expert meetings on democracy, nature, history and innovation will be held in January 2023. At these meetings, three draft declarations prepared by the representatives of merchants, farmers, workers, industrialists and craftsmen will be discussed and filtered by experts. Views from the field will be synthesized with new economic concepts and academic knowledge.
