Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci met with the representatives of the agriculture sector at the meeting held in the Governor's Conference Hall as part of the Yozgat program.

In his speech at the meeting, Minister Kirişci said that he is thinking about how Europe will spend this winter, and that there is no such problem in Turkey regarding natural gas.

Pointing out that it is not a coincidence that Turkey did not experience a natural gas crisis, Kirişci said, “These are the results of having a leader who is consistent, balanced, in line with world realities and exhibits the behaviors that should be. Because if we had said 'we are on the side of Russia or on the side of Ukraine' in the Russia-Ukraine war, we would have gone down in history as the third country that suffered the most after those two countries.” he said.

Pointing out that many countries appreciate Turkey regarding the grain corridor, Kirişci said, “Last week we were in Paris for the OECD meeting. Two countries in Paris, I will announce it here, one Spain and one Belgium, thanked Turkey and us in front of the nation, in front of the media. The grain aisle was kept open for reopening, but we did not hear public thanks from any of the other countries.” used his statements.

Explaining that the 20 million population added in the last 20 years continues to be saturated with the products produced in Turkey, Kirişci said that 50 million tourists also benefit from this production.

Kirişci noted that agricultural exports increased to 2021 billion dollars in 25, and it is aimed to exceed 30 billion dollars this year.

Expressing that the demands of the farmers were taken into account in the face of increasing prices, Minister Kirişci said, “The appropriate intervention prices were determined. We gave a price of 2 thousand 250 liras and then 7 thousand 50 liras for wheat, which was 7 thousand 450 liras last year. Thus, we currently have 6,2 million tons of products in stock.” made its assessment.

SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN TO THE OWNER, NOT TO THE FIELD OWNER.

Minister Kirişci, who spoke about the lands taken, said: “Now, it is rightly asked in various places, it is said, 'We are tenants. Since we are tenants, we cannot benefit from these supports. The owner of the field receives these supports.' Now in the current system, in the farmer registration system, we give it to the owner of the field or the person registered in the ÇKS. Now, we will apply to our Parliament, our esteemed deputies, for a legislative change. We will specifically say there that we will not only base the ÇKS. Apart from the ÇKS, we will also consider other records of the ministry for this work. In other words, we will not give it to the owner of the field, but to the one who rents and leases the field.”

“WE HAVE TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN THAT SHELTING IS A PROPHET'S PROFESSION”

Stressing that agriculture is an activity that should be prioritized by people who love their homeland and nation, Kirişci said: “In other words, agriculture should not be a job that second-class and third-class people have to do. When we say shepherd, we do not have to think of Afghans, but we have to teach our children that shepherding is also a prophetic profession. We are in contact with producers who say, 'When I can't see Afghans in their beds when I wake up in the morning, I'm out of my mind'. We provide shepherd support, we increased it from 6 thousand liras to 12 thousand liras. Yes, he does not cover all his expenses, but what comes from a friend? We are now establishing the Agriculture Forest Youth Council within our ministry so that our women and young people will be more interested in the sector. Because it would be naive to expect such an innovative new application from people who are 60 or 70 years old. Young people know this. Just like the TEKNOFEST generation.”
