Speaking at the ceremony, TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük gave information about the investments made in the railways. General Manager Pezük said, “Turkey, which is the bridge between Europe and Asia, has implemented important projects in the field of railways, taking into account this strategic position. With MARMARAY, the continents of Asia and Europe were connected under the sea, providing uninterrupted train traffic from London to Beijing. Since 2003, very important breakthroughs have been made in every field in our country, and the railways have taken their share from this growth and development. With successive high-speed train lines put into service, Turkey has become the 6th high-speed train operating country in Europe and 8th in the world.” said.

Stating that TCDD attaches importance to international cooperation, TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük said, "By blending its 166 years of experience with science and technology, TCDD equips our country with iron networks, and attaches importance to international cooperation in order to become the main actor in global railway transportation." “Islamic Development Bank is at the forefront of this cooperation. The cooperation between TCDD and the Islamic Development Bank, which started in 1986, has moved to an important point today. The Islamic Development Bank supported very important projects of the Turkish State Railways. In our adventure of cooperation approaching half a century, with the financing of approximately 900 million Euros from the Islamic Development Bank, the electrification of the Iskenderun-Divriği Line was carried out, and our railway line of 415 kilometers was renewed. 80 electric locomotives and 18 very high speed train sets were provided. A total of 2016 million 16 thousand passengers have been transported since 620, when these train sets started to serve, and it is expected to reach 2022 million passengers by 17. Today, we proudly attach the plate to the high-speed train set purchased with the contributions of the Islamic Development Bank.” used the phrases.

General Manager Pezük continued his speech as follows: “The railways are now sailing to new horizons and new targets. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, within the framework of the 2053 Transport Master Plan drawn by our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu, we will increase our railway network, which is 13 thousand 50 kilometers, to 28 thousand 590 kilometers by more than doubling. This friendship between the Republic of Turkey State Railways and the Islamic Development Bank, which started in 1986 and continued to this day, will be a model for other countries that will continue to increase from now on. As the railway family, I would like to thank and extend my respects to Mr. Muhammed Sulaiman Al Jasser, the President of the Islamic Development Bank, and his valuable managers for their support to our country and Turkish railways.”

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Islamic Development Bank, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Sulaiman Al Jasser said, “The Development Bank is very happy with the many investments it has made in railways in Turkey. Railways is the most environmentally friendly mode among other modes of transport. Of course, with the renewed technology, there will be a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation. Our train within the scope of this work has a seating capacity of 400 passengers and a transmission speed of 300 kilometers per hour. The main purpose of this project is to connect Ankara and Istanbul by high speed train. As my colleagues from TCDD see every day, we achieved great success in this project in a short period of 14 months. Passengers also showed great interest in these train sets and the occupancy rate is quite high. This project shows how important the cooperation between our members and our bank is. Here we provide people with a fast, safe and efficient transportation system. More than half of our train sets here are contributed by the Islamic Development Bank.” he said.

Following the speeches, delegations of TCDD and Islamic Development Bank held a souvenir photo shoot.
