'International Children's and Youth Theater Festival' to be Held in Bursa

The 26th International Children's and Youth Theater Festival, organized by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation, starts on 12 November. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş reminded that the festival has come to a mid-term holiday and invited all children and young people to the theater halls to 'watch the events'.

The 26th International Children's and Youth Theater Festival, one of Bursa's international brand events in terms of culture and arts, will be held between 12-17 November. The introductory meeting of the festival was held at the Tayyare Cultural Center with Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation (BKTSV) President Sadi Etkeser and Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Dr. It was made with the participation of Kamir Özer.

It will provide unforgettable moments

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that social, cultural and artistic activities are as valuable as transportation and infrastructure investments with huge budgets. President Aktaş stated that with the title Bursa, the Cultural Capital of the Turkish World in 2022, they carried out many events in every field from symposiums to exhibitions, from concerts to cinemas and theaters, and said, “The events we organized have contributed to the cultural and artistic enrichment of Bursa. Now, we came together to promote the International Children's and Youth Theater Festival, which our children and young people are eagerly waiting for. I would like to thank those who contributed to the success of our festival, which started its journey in 1996 and has become a tradition for more than a quarter of a century. I believe that our festival will bring unforgettable moments to our children and youth this year as well. I believe that the program, which was performed in full halls in the past years, 'except for the pandemic period', will take place with the same intensity this year.

Only the Khans Zone is enough

Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, who was in Bursa for the Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival, also touched upon the work done on culture and art in Bursa. Demircan, who stated that every activity carried out with the efforts of the Metropolitan Municipality after it became the Cultural Capital of the Turkish World, is an investment in the understanding of not only Bursa, but also the whole of Turkey, and even the Turkish world, and said, “Everyone follows the efforts of our President, and we applaud him. I can say that; Even if Mr. President did nothing, the activity of 'opening the environment and revealing the ancient artifacts', which was carried out only in the historical region, is an unforgettable value for Bursa on its own. How much can we applaud our President? Because culture; It is the protection, restoration, discovery and revival of historical sites. Without reviving these, the identity of the city and the values that make it a city will not emerge. Then we wouldn't be doing the most important things for the culture," he said.

Theater is part of education.

Demircan also mentioned the importance of theater in keeping the intangible cultural heritage alive in his speech and said, “Actually, theater is a part of education. Theater is didactic, its educational side is strong. So sometimes when you watch a theater; You learn and understand a big book, a big history, a big story, an important epic in that one hour. The educational side of the theater 'beyond being an entertainment' is very valuable. From this perspective, we know that the 26th International Festival of Children's and Youth Theaters has a lot to contribute to our city and especially to our youth. We express our love, appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to everyone who contributed with these feelings and thoughts. Good luck," he said.

Sadi Etkeser, Chairman of Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation, noted that they will bring the theater, which has many positive effects such as communication, self-confidence, cooperation, teamwork, awareness of responsibility and socialization, to children and youth free of charge between 12-17 November 2022. Stating that 2 teams, 4 from Iran and 14 from Spain and Kazakhstan, will take part in the festival this year, Etkeser said, “In addition to 7 'all free' shows to be held in the 30 busiest centers of Bursa, there will be 6 workshops and 1 conversation with children. and we will give our young people a theater feast. We would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for their contribution to the festival. I would also like to express my gratitude to ATIS Group of Companies, Harput Holding, Bursa Commodity Exchange and Özhan Market, who contributed to our festival, our main sponsor being Şahinkaya Schools.”
