Increased Amount of Support to Farmers Against Potato Wart

The amount of the support payment to be made to the farmers registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) in areas where planting is prohibited due to "potato wart" disease has been increased to 125 lira per decare.

The Communiqué on the Support to be Applied in the Areas with Potato Warts and the Security Zone, prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

With the Communiqué, the legislation with the same name published in the Official Gazette dated 14 November 2019 was repealed.

Accordingly, farmers whose product and parcel information of the production season are registered in the ÇKS will be able to benefit from the support.

In the areas where potato warts are seen and in the areas in the security zone created for potato warts, if alternative crops are grown as a quarantine measure or if these areas are left fallow, a support payment of 2022 lira per decare will be made to the farmers included in the ÇKS for the alternative applications of the 125 production season. In the abolished regulation, this amount was determined as 110 lira per decare.

The support payment plan will be determined by the Ministry on the basis of sowing and planting and fallow application starting from this year, and making payments to the same area every 3 years. The payment, which will cover 3 years, will be made this year.

REQUIRED TO APPLY UNTIL NOVEMBER 21st

Farmers who want to benefit from the support in question must apply to the provincial or district directorates where they have registered until 21 November 2022. Applications must be made within the year and period.

The Ministry will be authorized to take measures to ensure the supervision of support payments. In the studies to be carried out for this purpose, the services of other public institutions and organizations, cooperatives, chambers of agriculture and unions will be utilized when necessary.

The relevant units will be responsible for the control of the documents submitted to them and the documents they have prepared. Necessary administrative actions will be taken against those who do not fulfill this obligation and cause unfair payments, and those who issue and use fake or unrealistic documents in terms of content, and legal and criminal proceedings will be initiated.

The necessary financing for the support payments will be met by allocating it from the relevant expenditure item of the budget.
