Akkuyu NPP General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva announced for the first time that the production of the fuel to be used in the power plant has started and will be brought to Turkey by the end of May.

Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project, which is Turkey's first nuclear power plant and the proud project of the vision of the central country in energy, is now at the last bend.

The mark of the production process came from the number one of the work. Akkuyu NPP General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva said, “The facility where nuclear fuel will be stored has been prepared. The production of the fuel has started. Nuclear fuel is expected to be introduced into the country by the end of May next year. It is an exciting development.” she spoke.

'The calendar is working as planned'

Zoteeva answered journalists' questions at the Nuclear Energy Exhibition in Russia. “At Akkuyu, the calendar works as planned.” said. Referring to the security measures in Akkuyu, Zoteeva emphasized that the share allocated for the measures constitutes 40 percent of the total cost.

Sharing the details of the core holder system to be used, Zoteeva continued her words as follows; Our work continues in accordance with the approved construction program. I look forward to the next 2023 year. The reason for this is that the construction works have been completed in 2023 and we will be at the stage of bringing fresh fuel to the country in the first power unit.

With the implementation of the core retention system, the risk will be eliminated

The technology we use in the third generation is very important. The core holder is that in case of an accident, the plum substance absorbs the radiation and prevents it from being released to the outside.

Zoteva said that Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will meet 10 percent of Turkey's total energy needs.
