Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that they have achieved 99,67 percent physical progress in the infrastructure works of the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line, "When the project is completed in April 2023, the travel time will decrease from 12 hours to 2 hours." said.

Karaismailoğlu, in his presentation on the 2023 budget of the Ministry at the Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, stated that they have completed the infrastructure systems of Turkey to a large extent and noted that a new era of transportation has now been entered.

Pointing out that all the fields of activity of the Ministry constitute the basic pillars of the infrastructure required for Turkey's holistic development, Karaismailoğlu said that since 2003, they have implemented very large and important projects in the field of transportation and communication by investing 1 trillion 653 billion 451 million liras.

Underlining that they are also evaluating alternative financing sources so that the investments can be completed faster and offered to the service of the citizens, Karaismailoğlu stated that they have started the Public-Private Cooperation project worth 374,7 billion liras, and that 83 percent of the said investments have been completed.

Expressing that they aim to bring an additional 63,7 billion liras of investment to Turkey with the Public-Private Sector Cooperation projects that are under construction, Karaismailoğlu said, “There are 3 thousand 342 projects in our investment portfolio. The total size of these projects is 991 billion 476 million TL. We have achieved approximately 447 billion 595 million in cash realizations in these projects.” he said.

Karaismailoğlu, emphasizing that they have invested 20 billion liras in railways in 346,6 years, said that they introduced Turkey to high-speed train management.

Karaismailoğlu stated that they revived the historical Silk Road, which reaches from China to Turkey via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Iron Silk Road and goes to Europe by using the Marmaray, as a railroad. “We have achieved 99,67 percent physical progress in the infrastructure construction works of the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line. Partially testing and certification studies have been completed. When the project is completed in April 2023, the travel time will be reduced from 12 hours to 2 hours. We made 54% physical progress in the infrastructure works of the Ankara-İzmir High Speed ​​​​Train line. We will reduce the rail travel time between Ankara and Izmir to 3 hours and 30 minutes. When finished, we aim to carry approximately 508 million passengers and 13,5 million tons of cargo per year over a distance of 90 kilometers. We achieved 86 percent progress in the infrastructure works of the Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli high-speed train line. In connection with the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed train line, we started the superstructure construction of the 106-kilometer Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli high-speed train line. We put the Konya-Karaman high-speed train line into service. Between Karaman and Ulukışla, we completed the infrastructure works and achieved 55 percent physical progress in the superstructure construction works. Our work on the high-speed train line stretching from Mersin to Gaziantep continues feverishly. With the project planned to be completed by the end of 2024, the travel time between Mersin-Adana and Gaziantep will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes. Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they increased the number of international ports from 152 to 217 and drew attention to the fact that the amount of cargo handled in these ports increased from 190 million tons to approximately 526 million tons.

Pointing out that it is predicted that the number of ships that will pass through the Bosphorus in the 2050s will reach 78 thousand, Karaismailoğlu said, “With Kanal Istanbul, our country will play a more active role in global trade. The construction of the Sazlıdere Bridge, which will provide the passage of the canal in the Sazlıdere section of Istanbul, continues.
