While the work on Ünye Castle, which has a 2500-year-old history, is coming to an end, Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı said that the castle will be opened to tourism in 2023.
The 2500-year-old Historical Castle, one of the most important heritages of the district, which has a deep-rooted history, is brought to tourism. The works for the establishment of a rail system and walking platform in the castle, where the corridor cleaning and landscaping has been carried out by Ünye Municipality, are continuing.

Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı, who said that Ünye Castle will open its doors to tourism in a short time, said, “Our efforts to bring our Ünye Castle to tourism continue uninterruptedly. Since a part of the castle belongs to Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, its allocation to Ünye Municipality was discussed at the November Meeting of the Metropolitan Municipality Council. In order for the castle to become operational as soon as possible, our Metropolitan Mayor Dr. We talked to Mehmet Hilmi Guler. The Metropolitan Municipality Council decided on the transfer and operation of the Castle to Ünye Municipality. A decision was made regarding the transfer of this place to Ünye Municipality. We also continue our efforts to bring the Castle to tourism. While the rail system and lighting process are completed, the wagon work continues. At the same time, when the construction of the walking platform from the entrance of the Castle to the area where the corridor is located is completed, the Castle will be opened to visit.”
“ARCHEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS WILL CONTINUE”
Stating that the works in the Castle will not stop with this, Mayor Tavlı said, “With these works, archaeological excavations will continue in the field while the Castle is visited by our compatriots and guests. I would like to express that Ünye Castle will be one of the important destinations brought to tourism by transforming it into a way that works are carried out on one side and visits are made on the other.”

Expressing that the Ünye Castle will be the only castle visited by the rail system, Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı said, “We have ensured that this project is registered by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board. The rail system has been laid, lighting is being done. At the last stage, the tender for the walking platform, which will be from the entrance of the castle to the outer part of the corridor, was held. At the point of carrying out these works, authorization work will be carried out from the Assembly of the Metropolitan Municipality. PLANNED TO BE COMPLETED IN THE FIRST MONTHS OF 2023
Noting that the works are planned to be completed in the first months of 2023, Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı said, “At the latest, in the second month, the walking platform has been completed, the rail system will be ready to be visited in its systematic form by placing the wagon. This summer, we will make it possible to visit there in terms of tourism.” he said.
