Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Department teams continue their new road construction, expansion and improvement activities at many points in Tarsus.

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, which has rapidly strengthened the transportation infrastructure throughout the city, carries out road construction works in Tarsus, both in new settlements and in areas where agricultural production is intense.

It will be the first 3-lane road of Tarsus

Metropolitan Municipality teams are working feverishly in the 2-meter section between Turalı junction and Gazi Paşa Boulevard junction, which is located in the north of Tarsus and forms the border of Atatürk District, where housing is continuing rapidly.

The road, which is the starting point of the Tarsus-Çamlıyayla Highway, is being built with 3 lane roundtrips and a bicycle path on it.

Metropolitan Municipality teams carry out activities on the Çiçek group road, which is connected to Tarsus, where agricultural production is intense. The broken ground of the 13-kilometer-long road, which is frequently used by many neighborhoods in the vicinity, especially in the Çiçek Mahallesi, and especially used by agricultural production-based service vehicles and construction machinery, has begun to be completely dismantled. Hot asphalt paving will be carried out after the ground improvement works on the road starting from the Çiçek Mahallesi to Yenice Mahallesi.

Murat Olgaç: “Our road will be 35 meters wide”

Murat Olgaç, Civil Engineer at Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, noted that the wall construction and culvert works were completed at the starting point of the Çamlıyayla road, the first 3-lane road of Tarsus, and said, “Our wall and excavation culvert works have been completed. We have reached the final stage in our infrastructure works. Now, with the completion of the work of other institutions, we will gradually pass to the superstructure. This road, which is 2 thousand 100 meters, will be the first 3-lane road in Tarsus. Together with the bicycle path and the median, there will be a total zoning width of 35 meters.

“The capital of Çukurova and especially of agriculture”

Emphasizing that the teams also spend a lot of time on the Çiçek group road, Murat Olgaç said, “The Yenice-Çiçekli group road also includes neighborhoods such as Kargılı, Karsavuran and Baltalı. It is a region that we can call the capital of Çukurova and especially of agriculture. There have been serious problems in this path for many years. We, as Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, have started our work on this road.” Noting that the Martyr Mehmet Şen Boulevard, which has caused complaints due to the deterioration of the ground, was also carried out with hot asphalting work, Murat Olgaç said, “Since this is a new settlement, this road, which is heavily demanded by the citizens, was in serious trouble. First we started our trimer excavation. Then, our hot asphalt works on PMT and on it continue”.

Ferahim Şalvuz District has a clean road

The worn floor on the Martyr Mehmet Şen Boulevard, which is the main artery of the Ferahim Şalvuz District, which is located in the eastern part of Tarsus and where high-rise residences are concentrated, was dismantled by the Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction Maintenance and Repair teams and the hot asphalt coating process was carried out. Work on the thousand-meter-long road has been completed.

Tarsus Ferahim Şalvuz Neighborhood Headman Mehmet Keskin conveyed his thanks to Mayor Vahap Seçer for his services and said, “I would like to thank you on behalf of our neighborhood for the asphalt that was built in our neighborhood. We want the asphalt of Adana Boulevard to be made. I would like to thank all my friends who contributed,” he said.
