For 10 years, we used to apply to be a party here and to benefit from the grant programs. Izmir was always kept out. Izmir was included for the first time. A resource of 253 million euros has been allocated to this title. We immediately started working within this framework. We went to Vienna to meet with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Again, we had high-level talks. I can say that they are extremely generous in transferring resources about İzmir. The European Award has been very beneficial to İzmir. It started to open incredible doors for us.”
“We will host the Union of Mediterranean Municipalities”
Stating that they met with the President of the Committee of the Regions in Strasbourg, where they went for the General Assembly of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, President Soyer continued his words as follows: “The Committee of the Regions is a kind of parliament that runs parallel to the European Parliament and only includes regional representatives. . As Izmir, we are the only one from Turkey. We are one of the 18 council members. We have a very strong say there. As İzmir, we are hosting the Union of Mediterranean Municipalities on 7-8 November. We will host around 80 mayors from the Mediterranean region.”

At the meeting, the “city parking lot” presentation prepared by Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, Izmir Commodity Exchange and Aegean Exporters' Associations was made. Kemeraltı has been the most vital project of İzmir for us since the beginning. Kemeraltı is the leverage of this city. We will do our best to the end of Kemeraltı," he said.

Güven Eken, Advisor to the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, made a presentation on the work of the "Economics Congress of the Second Century".
