Quality Measure for Groundwater, Areas with Decreased Water Will Be Artificially Fed

Before the approaching winter season, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which decided to increase the studies on groundwater, which is of serious importance for the country, started to determine the amount and quality of groundwater in different basins.

In this context, with the projects carried out by the General Directorate of Water Management, groundwater bodies have begun to be determined at the basin scale in our country. In this context, works have been completed in Gediz, Akarçay, Sakarya, Burdur, Western Mediterranean, Yeşilırmak, Konya, Meriç-Ergene, Susurluk, Büyük Menderes, Küçük Menderes and North Aegean Basins. Work continues in the Kızılırmak, Marmara, Antalya, Eastern Mediterranean, Eastern Black Sea and Western Black Sea basins.

A program including basic, special and additional measures was prepared in order to protect the current condition of the groundwater in good condition and to improve the groundwater in bad condition. Human activities that may have an environmental impact on the quality of groundwater bodies and sources of pollution arising from them were identified. Measures to be taken separately in order to improve the quantity and quality of the groundwater body were determined.

DISPOSAL FACILITIES

Regarding the quality of groundwater, switching to good agricultural practices, controlling pesticide use, increasing public awareness, developing support and incentive programs, establishing an agricultural database and switching to organic agriculture, establishing sanitary landfills and waste disposal facilities in solid waste storage , rehabilitation of irregular areas, establishment of new wastewater treatment plants in waste water treatment, completion of sewerage systems, collection of individual enterprises under the umbrella of organized industry in industry, appropriate storage of mine wastes, drilling of reinjection wells in geothermal fields, continuation of chemical monitoring in all masses and monitoring points measures were taken.

ALTERNATIVES WILL BE RESEARCHED

The arrangement to be made also included details about the artificial recharge of groundwater. Groundwater withdrawals with appropriate allocations, detection of undocumented wells, use of metered measurement systems, investigation of alternatives to artificial recharge of groundwater (with surface feeding, wells or underground dams), continuation of quantity monitoring at all masses and monitoring points were added to the measures.
