Speaking at the Introductory Meeting, Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said, “First of all, I would like to thank our press, our city that has taken care of it, our federation, which has always contributed to us, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the support you have given to such a meaningful work.”
Stating that they will carry out studies that will ensure the continuation of this work, which is carried out on an international scale, President Büyükkılıç said, "There is no doubt that we will do more in solidarity with our esteemed governor."
Büyükkılıç emphasized that when Kayseri is mentioned, a city with a history of 6 years and home to different civilizations comes to mind, and continued his words as follows:
“We are in our castle, which is almost the necklace of our city, which is our pride from the Roman and Byzantine eras. It has Seljuk, Ottoman and Republican dimensions. You can see different artifacts and traces of civilizations in different places. In the last period, the mosaics unearthed in the excavations carried out by İncesu in the Örenşehir region of our Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with our Ministry of Culture will be our face and the pride of our Kayseri. I would like to share with our esteemed governor that this work will hopefully be one of the most important works that will bring our Kayseri to the forefront. We say Kültepe Kaniş-Karum, we say 6 years of commercial history, we say it is ingrained in our genes.”
Emphasizing that in this beautiful city, which is the center of commerce and industry, the efforts to make it a center of tourism and especially sports are continuing rapidly, President Büyükkılıç said, “I want to continue my words by ringing the ears of our minister Özhaseki. Erciyes Ski Center, which is the pride of our Kayseri, is a project that has hundreds of international trends. As you know, Erciyes Ski Center was the first thing we talked about, wherever we went, in our meetings outside of the tear. It is a work of art with 19 mechanical facilities, 40 ski tracks, and a track length of more than 130 kilometers at international standards. In order to further crown this work, we have turned it into a High Altitude Center to make it the center of sports.”
Büyükkılıç described their work in the field of sports in the city as follows:
“We have implemented the High Altitude Center, and we will continue the process with 8 fields, a gym and a swimming pool next season. With these studies, we will make it the center of both individual and group sports from the eyes of a doctor as a high altitude. We are in the Cappadocia region, you are following our tourism activities in different places, which are the gateway to Cappadocia. In addition to these works, we have implemented our equestrian and archery facility, which has become the center of our ancestral sports and traditional sports in our city, with our efforts to become the center of sports. With the work done here, this important center in Kayseri, where our national athletes also camp, has turned into a sought-after location. With the activities of our Spor A.Ş. in schools, we carried out the necessary sports activities for our 20 puppies in 3 terms. We also host sports events such as international cycling road competitions, especially skiing. We cannot ignore the interest shown by our people in nature camps. Our efforts to provide opportunities for various sports activities in the 1 million 260 thousand square meter Recep Tayyip Erdoğan National Garden are continuing rapidly. As of May, our national garden will come to life. We have also started beach volleyball and football by breaking new ground in Kayseri. We have opened two separate tennis courts for tennis lovers, and our tennis courses are also full.”

THANKS FROM GOVERNOR ÇİÇEK TO PRESIDENT BÜYÜKKILIÇ
Governor Gökmen Çiçek, who thanked Mayor Büyükkılıç for touching all age groups, said, “We had a wonderful night yesterday hosted by our Metropolitan Mayor. On the occasion of the Elders' Week, we listened to a magnificent concert after a wonderful theater play in which our elders took part. The interest shown by our Metropolitan Municipality to our elderly people made me very happy. Today, after our elderly people, I congratulate and thank our Metropolitan Municipality for touching all of our people, especially young people, with a public run," he said.
Governor Çiçek added that he was eagerly waiting for this organization.
Fatih Çintimar, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation, also stated that half marathons and marathons reached 130 in Turkey and they are in every province. Talking about the specialty of Kayseri in athletics, Çintimar said, “The national athletics team has about 125 Olympic athletes, 6 of them belong to Kayseri. In the international competitions held this year, 4 Balkan Championships, Balkan second places, third places, and in the last race, our child Ramazan Baştuğ represented our city, our country and our national team with a silver medal for the first time in our history, in the 5 meters.

Mayor Çintimar stated that they will all be here in the race that will take place on Sunday, October 9, while Metropolitan Municipality Spor A.Ş. General Manager İbrahim Somtaş, on the other hand, thanked the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. He thanked Memduh Büyükkılıç and said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are very honored and proud to host the marathon, which we will organize for the second time this year. Hopefully this year we will have a running system consisting of 3 different tracks. As last year, I hope this year we are planning to sign the half marathon, which is remembered by thousands. I would like to thank the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality for giving us these opportunities. We expect more than 6 thousand participants to our marathon this year. We have an award of 384 thousand TL. In the public race, there will be surprise awards that we will announce.”
Describing the Marathon as 'a very good program, a very good organization', Kayseri Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ali İhsan Kabakcı said, "We are in Kayseri, a sports city from the International Kayseri Half Marathon, which started last year in our city, which is home to an ancient civilization. It's a really nice program, a very nice organization. It is a half marathon with a really important infrastructure and a nice organization. More than just a marathon, of course," he said, adding that they will organize many different organizations with the support of the Governor's Office and the Metropolitan.
At the end of the meeting, a plaque of appreciation was presented to the sponsors for their support for the half marathon, and specially prepared runner t-shirts, bags, cups and medals were also introduced.
ATHLETES FROM 15 COUNTRIES WILL PARTICIPATE
In addition to 9 Turkish athletes from all over Turkey, 2022 foreign athletes from 6 countries will participate in the International Kayseri Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, October 15, 120, with the theme of 'Erciyes'. The International Kayseri Half Marathon, which will be held with the slogan 'More than a Marathon', will be run in three categories as 21K, 10K and public run.
