Hyundai Announces Future Roadmap

Hyundai Motor Group has announced its new global strategy to transform all its vehicles into “Software Defined Vehicles” by 2025. Hyundai is poised to usher in an unprecedented era in mobility with its industry-leading initiative. Giving its customers the opportunity to remotely update and upgrade the performance and functionality of their vehicles anywhere at any time, Hyundai will invest more than 12 billion euros in the Group's Global Software Center for this innovative technology.

Hyundai's ever-evolving mobility and software technology also includes previously produced models. Thus, it will be ensured that all models produced are kept up-to-date. Hyundai will make these updates over the air (Over The Air) for vehicle functions such as security, personal comfort, mobile connectivity and driving performance. Thus, all group vehicles will be equipped to receive OTA software updates by 2025.

Hyundai also plans to have more than 2025 million models registered in its connected car service worldwide by 20. Connected vehicles equipped with the latest telecommunications features will create unprecedented value and possibilities.

In addition, a network will be created for all future mobility solutions, including connected vehicle data, purpose-built special vehicles (PBVs), advanced air mobility (AAM), robotaxis and robots. Hyundai will accelerate its investments in technology and establish a new data platform, thus encouraging collaborative companies to create an open ecosystem jointly with various sectors such as logistics and accommodation.

Over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Hyundai will produce over-the-air (OTA) software updates for all vehicles it will launch from 2023 to keep it up to date. This transformation will apply not only to electric models, but also to vehicles with internal combustion engines. All vehicle segments of the group sold worldwide will continue to be developed with OTA software definition until 2025.

Vehicle owners will be able to remotely update and upgrade their vehicles for performance and functionality at any time without the need to take them to an authorized service center. Thus, since the vehicle can be constantly updated, its useful life and resale value will also increase. The Hyundai group first introduced this service in 2021, and from 2023 it will start rolling it out in vehicle models that can use Connected Car Services (CCS).

The Hyundai group will also offer services such as FoD (feature on demand) next year. This exclusive offering will give customers the freedom to create the most suitable vehicles tailored to their needs and tastes.

Next-generation EV platform to accelerate software transformation.

By developing a common hardware and software platform for vehicles, Hyundai plans to significantly reduce the time required for all processes, including planning, design and manufacturing. Thus, it will be possible to develop more efficient vehicles and reduce costs by sharing production parts between different vehicle segments. Reducing tool complexity will also further increase the effectiveness of software technology.

The group will also introduce two new EV platforms, eM and eS, in 2025, and new vehicles built on this platform. The new EV platforms will be manufactured under the group's Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA) system.

The eM platform is being developed specifically for EVs in all segments and will provide a 50 percent improvement in driving range over existing EVs on a single charge. The eM platform will also support Level 3 or higher autonomous driving technology and OTA software update features.

The eS platform, on the other hand, has a completely flexible structure. It will be developed only for purpose-built vehicles (PBV) and special solutions will be produced especially for sectors such as delivery and logistics.
