STM CTF, which was organized for the 8th time this year by STM Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc., which produces national solutions for the Turkish defense industry and "cyber homeland", was held at Istanbul Yıldız Technical University on October 18th. The event, which took place online for the last two years due to the pandemic, was held face-to-face physically this year.
The event organized by STM in October, the month of cyber awareness, in order to raise awareness in the field of cyber security and informatics and develop human resources, has become the focus of attention of young people and cyber security researchers who want to pursue a career in STM.
This year, CTF was moderated by Selim Yeğin, while Yıldız Technical University (YTU) Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz, STM Board Member and YTU Mechanical Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Kaya and Turkey Cyber Security Cluster General Coordinator Alpaslan Kesici, Turkish Presidency Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) Cyber Security and Information Systems Department Head Ahmet Bahadır Bülbül and relevant guests attended.
In Capture The Flag (CTF), Turkey's longest running cyber security competition, white hat hackers shared their trump card. The final of the STM Capture The Flag (CTF) cyber security competition, which was held face-to-face this year, was held in Istanbul on October 18. After the preliminary elimination with the participation of 156 teams and 613 competitors, 200 competitors and 50 teams competed in the final at YTU Davutpaşa Campus.

STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated that STM carries out important works for Turkey in the expanding cyber space as a field of struggle. The Historical Hamam Became the Stage of a Fierce Struggle!
After the pre-selection, which witnessed the struggle of 156 teams and 613 competitors, the CTF final was held at the Historical Hamam in YTU Davutpaşa Campus. Competitors in STM CTF; to find cyber security vulnerabilities and hijack systems; tried to solve questions in branches such as cryptography, reverse engineering, web and mobile applications.
In the long and challenging competition, the first team "Always Was It" won 75 thousand liras, the second team "Shell Wizards" won 60 thousand liras, and the third team "λ" received a monetary award of 45 thousand liras. Mechanical keyboard for 4th, 5th and 6th place teams; The 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th teams were given a bluetooth speaker. In addition, the Oculus Quest VR virtual reality glasses were presented as a gift with the drawing made among those who participated in the Mini Quiz to be held during the competition and answered the questions correctly.
