A protocol was signed for teachers working in public schools and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and for discounts on ticket and baggage fees for those who study abroad with a MEB scholarship within the scope of Law No. 1416. The spouses and children of teachers and scholars will also benefit from the discount.

The protocol between the Ministry of National Education and Turkish Airlines Joint Stock Company was signed with the participation of Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Ahmet Bolat.

At the signing ceremony, Minister Özer said that, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, maximum increases in schooling rates have been achieved in the last 20 years, and that this is the period when education is used most efficiently and said, “Our schooling rates in primary and secondary schools approached 100 percent, and the Ministry of National Education reached 19,1 million dollars. it has a huge education system with its students and 1,2 million teachers. We are a big family. As the Ministry of National Education, we are making a great effort with all our colleagues to create and strengthen a system that facilitates access to the highest quality education for all, so that young people, who are the hope of Turkey's future, can receive quality education.” said.

Underlining that teachers are the locomotive power of the education system, Minister Özer said that the more investments are made in teachers, the more this will be reflected in schools.

Noting that the cooperation signed with THY has two dimensions, Özer noted that within the scope of the protocol, teachers working in public schools will benefit from a 6 percent discount on their domestic flights for the 20-month period between November and April. Özer said that this is the first time that a discount corresponding to such a wide period has been applied and that teachers' spouses and children will also benefit from this discount. Stating that teachers want to develop not only their professional and personal development areas, but also all kinds of opportunities, Özer stated that the second dimension of the cooperation is for the scholars who are sent abroad for graduate education with a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education within the scope of the Law No. 1416.

Ozer, roots II. The Ministry of National Education, which has reached the time of Abdulhamid and has continued the tradition since 1929, said the following about the scholarship:

“Successfully implemented project about creating qualified human resources, especially in the field of higher education. In fact, this is very valuable in terms of showing the importance that Atatürk gave to higher education being much more qualified. As you know, Atatürk sent letters to all 1416 scholarship students who will go abroad, making them feel how valuable they are for the country. Until 2002, 9 thousand 540 students went abroad under this scholarship. With this educational move in the 2000s, more than the number of students sent from 1929 to 2002, approximately 11 of our students went abroad in this context.”

Stating that the scholars are the young people who are the pride of the country, Özer said that the project has a symbolic meaning in terms of showing the capacity of very successful students who have the potential to reverse the brain drain to work in many different locations in Turkey and said, continues to do so.” he said.

Reminding that he met with students studying abroad within the scope of the United Nations Education Transformation Summit in New York, Özer stated that the issue of international flights is one of the most frequently discussed topics. Özer said, “There we called our President of Turkish Airlines from the Turkish House, and our President said, 'We are in awe, the more we can push our means and help our students, the more useful we will be.' He said, and we quickly had the opportunity to come together today.” said.

Özer concluded his words as follows: “Within the scope of Law No. 1416, we currently have 51 thousand students in 4 countries. Now, these students, their spouses and children are given a 25 percent discount on both international and domestic flights and a luggage support of 40 kilograms. I would like to thank my esteemed THY President and THY's valuable family for being with us.”
