Continental Introduces Conti Urban Concept Tire

Continental introduced the Conti Urban concept tire designed for sustainable public transportation at the 2022 International Transport Fair.

The new Conti Urban concept tire introduced by premium tire manufacturer Continental has been specially designed for electric buses and cargo vehicles. With its 50 percent recyclable and renewable structure, the tire provides efficiency for city electric buses and cargo vehicles.

Continental is committed to making all its tire products from 2050 percent sustainable materials by 100 and to running its supply chains in a climate-neutral manner.

The tread of the Conti Urban tire in contact with the road contains 68 percent renewable materials, such as silica obtained from rapeseed oil and rice husk ashes, and natural rubber produced by a joint project of Continental & German International Cooperation Organization. All natural rubber used in the tread area of the tire is supplied with this project.

Conti Urban concept tire; With its rubber compound used in the tread area, wide tread and optimized durability, it also has a rolling resistance of 7 percent compared to existing Conti Urban tires.

Continental, which wants to contribute to the reduction of noise pollution caused by city bus and cargo traffic, has specially optimized the noise structure of the new Conti Urban. This special tire distributes the noise frequencies generated while rolling on the road surface to a wider range, and different frequency ranges spanning a wider spectrum ensure low noise perception.

Increases efficiency in fleets with digital solutions

ContiConnect 2.0, which offers an uninterrupted digital monitoring system developed by Continental, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while preventing unexpected tire replacement and repair costs.

The ContiConnect 2.0 system allows fleet managers to monitor tire pressure and temperature in real time, as well as monitor mileage, tread depth and the overall condition of each tyre.

Depending on the application, the data is transmitted over a specific radio frequency or Bluetooth. Continental's specially developed application, compatible with all standard smartphone operating systems, also enables data-based tire inspections and on-site reading of data.
