Beko Asked for 3 Thousand TL Allocated for Izmir's Rail System Investments

Reminding that a budget of 60 billion liras was allocated for the metro investment project of Istanbul, but a budget of 3 thousand liras, which cannot even be considered symbolic, was allocated for Izmir, CHP İzmir Deputy Kani Beko brought the issue to the Parliament. Beko asked, “What is the justification for this situation, which clearly shows that your ministry makes a distinction between provinces?” she asked.

CHP İzmir Deputy Kani Beko asked the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu the reason for the difference between the numbers allocated to İstanbul and İzmir for metro projects. Bringing the issue to the agenda of the Assembly, Beko submitted the parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, demanding that Karaismailoğlu be answered.

Kani Beko said that the citizens of Izmir wanted to be punished and that their aim in Istanbul was to create an atmosphere as if they were doing all the service themselves. Beko underlined that this anti-democratic and nepotistic system, in which even the state's service to its nation is turned into a political rant, is almost over. Asking in which areas the budget of 14 thousand liras allocated to the 4.5-kilometer-long Halkapınar-Bus Terminal metro, which comes to the agenda with the words that the foundation will be laid every year, but no steps have been taken for 3 years, is planned to be used by the Ministry, CHP's Beko asked what the purpose of this non-symbolic budget was.

“IS THE PURPOSE TO PUNISH THE IZMIRS?”

4. In 2022, how much budget has been allocated for the construction of the Metro by your Ministry, separately and in total, for which provinces, and how much of this budget has been met?
