STRATEGIC DECISION IN 2004
Turkey is currently writing an epic in the defense industry. When you open the world media, there is almost no news about Turkey. In 2004, when our President was prime minister at the time, the Defense Industry Executive Committee took the following decision. "If we can't make a product we need at the platform level, we will not buy it from abroad," he said. After the strategic decision taken in 2004, Turkey made serious strides towards becoming a self-sufficient country in the defense industry. It has succeeded in increasing the locality rate, which was around 20 percent, to 80 percent.
WE GAVE SISTER AND LITTLE
We have big companies in the defense industry that we can call brothers. such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN. While these companies continue on their way, the way to be competitive is to work with small companies, namely SMEs. We sat down with KOSGEB and said that we need to create suppliers for these manufacturers and our brothers. We brought SMEs together with ASELSAN. DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCT
ASELSAN Chairman and General Manager Haluk Görgün noted that they developed domestic and national products and subsystems in line with their founding mission, and said that they also included the products of subcontractors, namely SMEs, at the fair they participated in. Explaining that they exhibited 90 nationalized products at SAHA EXPO, Görgün stated that they will continue their cooperation with SMEs in the future.

PURPOSE OF CALL
The call titled “Supporting Enterprises' R&D, P&D and Innovation and P&D Projects within the Scope of Nationalization of Defense and Electric/Hybrid Automotive Industry Needs” was prepared within the scope of ASELSAN's nationalization efforts. KOSGEB's new call consists of two pillars. In the defense industry sub-title of the call, it is aimed to reduce foreign dependency with national technologies, while in the automotive part, it is aimed to increase the technology and production capabilities of electric/hybrid vehicles in areas such as sensors, batteries, fuel cells and software, and to invest in batteries for electric vehicles.
UPPER LIMIT 6 MILLION
Businesses registered in KOSGEB database and approved SME declaration can apply to the new call. The deadline for businesses is set to December 7, 2022. 6 million 3 thousand liras of the 150 million upper limit support was designed as non-refundable, 2 million 850 thousand liras was reimbursed. Businesses will be able to benefit from support in the fields of machinery-equipment, hardware, raw materials, software, service procurement, qualified personnel, industrial property rights, testing, analysis and certification.

SAHA EXPO Defense, Aviation and Space Industry Fair, organized by SAHA Istanbul, Europe's largest industrial cluster; It is held under the auspices of the President. The international fair, which has participation from 57 countries this year, is held with the participation and support of Industry and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Trade, Presidency of Defense Industry and other civil and military public institutions. Many strategically important products in the high-tech defense, aviation, maritime and space industries are being introduced for the first time at an international platform where the increase in Turkey's domestic production potential and its independent production power are exhibited.
