Ankara Hosted the 'Capital Ankara Run'

Ankara hosted the “Capital Ankara Run”, which was organized to commemorate the 99th anniversary of its being the Capital. Many athletes and citizens, from 7 to 70, participated in the run organized in Eymir Lake with the slogan of “Become a Disaster Volunteer and Run After Life”, and disaster awareness messages were also given.

While Ankara Metropolitan Municipality supports the sports activities in order to increase the interest of the citizens of the Capital in sports, it also raises awareness with these activities.

Ankara hosted the Capital Ankara Run, which was organized to commemorate the 99th anniversary of its being the Capital. In the event, disaster awareness messages were given on the occasion of the 13 October International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, and attention was drawn to breast cancer with booths, slogans and brochures distributed.

MANY CAPITALS ATTENDED THE RUN, FROM 7 TO 70

Approximately 99 people participated in the run organized by ABB Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department, Youth and Sports Services Department, Turkish Foresters Association and Science Tree Foundation to draw attention to both the 600th anniversary of Ankara's becoming the Capital and disaster awareness.

The run, which was held in Eymir Lake with the slogan of 'Become a Disaster Volunteer and Run after Life', was held in 10K and 5K categories.
In the 10K men's category of the Başkent Ankara Run, Bahattin Üney, 1nd Hakan Çoban and 2rd Alper Demir; Ümmü Kiraz came first, Gamze Bulut Mural came second and Semra Karaslan came third in women's women.

In the 5K category, Emir Berke Murathan became the 1st, Mehmet Kalyoncu and Bekirhan Kabadayı became the 2nd in the men's category. In the women's category, Hatice Yıldırım took the first place, Ezgi Kaya took the second place and Duygu Dalbudak took the third place.

“AWARENESS ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE”

Participating in the Capital Ankara Run, which started with the commemoration of the citizens who lost their lives in the mining explosion in Bartın, ABB Deputy Secretary General Mustafa Kemal Çokakoğlu said:

“It is held in the organization of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on behalf of awareness days regarding natural disasters and precautions to be taken against breast cancer. It is also extremely important that the event coincides with the 99th anniversary of Ankara being the Capital…”

Mutlu Gürler, Head of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department, said, “Since the day our department was established, we have been strengthening its staff and organizing many events to create social awareness in order to prepare cities for disasters and to make the society more sensitive to disasters. On the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Ankara's becoming the Capital and the International Day for Reducing Disaster Risks on October 13, we are organizing the Capital Ankara Run together with the Foresters Association of Turkey and the Science Tree Foundation. With the support of the Athletics Federation, 600 people from all over Turkey participated. I would like to thank everyone, especially our President Mansur Yavaş, for this event we organized to raise awareness”, while Mustafa Artunç, Head of Youth and Sports Services Department, said: being held.
